Description
This took too long! I had serious artblock and had to draw everything but dragons to get into art again, but... here I am.This is a minor scene, but one that stuck out to me while I was reading TDS. Morrowseer brings Starflight hunting with him and they uncover an albatross Morrowseer had previously bitten and left to die. Starflight is disgusted by the rotting bird, but his scientific analysis of why the NightWings are able to consume bacteria-infested prey is how Morrowseer discovers that he is Mastermind's son.
The usual fan design Starflight is simply shades of gray, but that's always bothered me. I ended up using warm colors for his design, mainly dark gray-orange. His eyes have apparently been confirmed green, so here's a pretty green-eyed Starflight. Morrowseer is usually depicted as dark purple, so that's the base color for his design. I used blues for his highlights/shading.
Overall I'm not too happy with how the colors clash with this scene, but the Night Kingdom is fairly drab. The yellow-orange highlights are reflections from fire and lava. Leafless trees and bushes are the only significant markers in the scenery, with the shape of the volcano in back.
Someday I also hope to draw Battlewinner's confrontation with Starflight and Fatespeaker! TDS was depressing, but so important to the first arc's development.

Ah, just a style choice. Heβs usually drawn in shades of gray, but I wanted a more original design for him (plus NightWings usually have hints of other colors in their scales)
