Description
I saw a request for a book cover. I have never thought about designing one before so I took a shot at what thought an interesting cover would look like. This is a mock up.
Here is the request if you are interested in helping the creator out.
Warlock cover artWarlock is the sixth novel in my series of romantic, interstellar adventures.
It may well be the be the best book I've ever written, but I won't publish it until I have great cover art.
So, purely for the love of the game, I offer an open challenge to all of Deviant Art to take a whack at some cover art for this little masterpiece of mine.
This is not a contest or competition, there is no prize offered, but if by some twist of fate someone comes close enough to what I'm after I have to offer compensation to use it (I think it's a law or something) and of course, the artist will be recognized on the copyright page of every book.
(Yeah, I print old-timey paperback books.)
What I need isΒ a sort of spooky secret agent cover, nothing pinup.
Think man of action, with a Japanese woman in a green dress.
If you can manage it, I'd like them to be overshadowed by a ghostly redhead.
If you enjoy a challenge, then have at it.

Really nice cover, lots of discrete detailing.

Now all I need is a high def (the bookbinder recommended 300dpi) version of this that I can use.

I feel the need to ask someone in my bookbinder's art department if they can work with the monochrome but DING-DING-DING, I BELIEVE WE HAVE A WINNER!
If this one pans out for book 6, there are still 11 more that need an awesome cover so don't wander off, amigo.

Looks great. Considering that it's a book cover you should account for space to put a title and cover copy so that when it is added it doesn't cover any of the major elements of your design. Just an observation.

There's a way around that.
My bookbinder offers cover templates, I can just slide this in and work around the edges.

That's cool if you want your pic shrunk down I guess but if you want the full cover it's better to consider it in your design.

Oh I agree, but if you want the artwork more or less intact the templates are a great idea.
This image is so awesome, I'm convinced there has to be some reason I won't be able to use it but this is the sort of thing I've been looking for all these years.
