a lot of Zerg units go their entire lives without eating anything... maybe this is the start of some sort of worker's rights revolt...

you also have to take in mind that, battles that take us but a few minutes, if an hour, for them realistically it took them days. and the battlegrounds are miles wide, i.e. everything we see is 5 times larger and longer

the buildings needed the creep, it was their food supply, the Zerg units, I.e. Hydralisks, zerglings, ect, ate.....well, wahtever they caught.
