I like this version a lot better than the b/w one. Here, the dead tree stands out more.

I'm still stuck on which one I like better, but I do like that the tree sticks out more, since that was intended to be my focal point. thank you so much, I'm glad you like it!

It's a great image. That image with seeing quad is really a great idea and very well done. The color version is great but in my mind it's begging to be made epic in B&W. It's really a unique image on som many levels.

Nice composition, I love the colors and contrast. Nice title too, the dead tree really adds to the general atmosphere in the photo.

Wow! That is REALLY abandoned! I wonder why something so new is abandoned.

dementeddiva23 In reply to schpidah [2011-07-10 18:53:35 +0000 UTC]

Yes it has been abandoned for a few years now. The only reason I can think is that they went out of business and no one wanted to buy the building. You can still read reviews on the place from when it was open, and they kept the rooms in filthy conditions, never cleaned, dirty linens, rude staff etc.

Then it's good they didn't stay in business.

Did you go inside ?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

dementeddiva23 In reply to moosicman45 [2011-07-10 18:58:20 +0000 UTC]

I did actually, but for maybe 10 minutes. It was pitch black in the part we were in and I spent most of my time trying to adjust my exposure settings. (I only got one "decent" pic of the inside) I had just turned the corner and went into a room that I could best describe as something out of silent hill, when we heard footsteps and people talking. We didn't know if it could have been territorial homeless people, police, or what so we figured it would be best to get out of there. We spent the rest of the time shooting the outside.

Yeah probably you best go out while you could. No art is worth a persons life. Sometimes it best to stay on the outside.

Turns out I believe they were just searching the walls for copper (I heard what sounded like a saber saw) and may have been harmless. But as my friend pointed out, if they were that hard up for money, who is to say they wouldn't have tried to steal my camera. But yes, I figured better safe than sorry.

Nope nope, not worth it. Especially when I can just go back another day. hee hee. I did see them through the windows, and once they saw us outside, they made it very obvious they were trying not to be seen anymore. They ran back through one of the doors and when they came back out they ducked down and were crawling. lol.

I'm not sure how old the place was, I never even knew it was there when it was still open and it's maybe 10 minutes from my house. lol. Makes for a great place to take pictures though

This is the closest place to me. Majority of the others are between 45 minutes and an hour away. Still not too bad, but it's no 10 minutes lol.

Holy S@#$ !!!!! The colours are amazing!!!!!! I love the contrast in this one and the grass in front of the house looks really soft and warm giving the whole shot this warmth that makes it unique. I also like how the tree is not in the middle that way it gives the picture some depth. Great work!!!
