The 1st of october, after the Spanish goverment ignored it and tried to cancel it for a long time, the catalan referendum for independence took place.The spanish goverment sent practically all the policemen in the country to Catalonia in order to stop the referendum. They said their only objective was to take the ballot boxes, because according to them the referendum was illegal. What happened left the whole population of Catalonia, even the people who were against independence, horrified.
The police started attacking the citizens that were protesting peacefully and blocking the entrance of the voting spots to protect their right to vote. With no provocation at all, they injured around 900 people in total. To make it even worse, weapons that were illegal since 2014 were used by the police. It was a horrible thing to see, and a hell to live through.
But they weren't able to stop us. We kept peacefully resisting, and kept the 75% of the voting spots, along with our votes, safe. They tried as hard as they could to take our rights from us, but we fought harder. The 90% of all the votes were in favour of the Catalan independence, and thus the Catalan goverment is now working on finally declaring the independence.
The rest is on the hands of the politicians. We did our best to demonstrate that our land belongs to us, and not to an abusive goverment that treats us like money making machines and punching bags.
European Union: don't act like this has nothing to do with you. A LOT of human rights were violated, you must do something. This is not Spain's problem anymore.

Very important note: if you're not in favour of the independence of Catalonia, at least be polite and don't start a fight in the comments. We can all get along even with opposite opinions if we just try. I don't hate spanish people, Spain is full of AMAZING people. It's the goverment who I hate, for treating us like we were their toys and not like the people we are.

And yeah, it's a shame the Spanish goverment treated us so bad considering how important is Catalonia to Spain... If only they respected a little bit more what Catalan people wanted, independence probably wouldn't have been necessary (but what to expect from the a party with the same ideology of our last dictator, who tried to abolish Catalan language and culture).

A lo que me refiero... no creo que el problema sea que el gobierno central cometa opresión sobre el pueblo Catalán, sino que el problema es sobre todas las comunidades autónomas. El gobierno no sabe reaccionar ni actuar de una forma apropiada y, Su Majestad, el Rey no tiene autoridad alguna para influír en el gobierno de forma que éste deje de ser corrupto ó intente mejorar...
Tristemente, hé estado leyendo sobre los políticos y la causa catalana y, me temo, no tiene fundamento más que el económico sobre personas que roban a los ciudadanos catalanes y luego les dicen que España roba
Muchas de esas cosas tuvimos en México, pero nunca a tal grado donde, para no ir a la cárcel, declaren la independencia de un Estado de México
La verdad es que hé estudiado a Franco, también, y (a pesar de ser un dictador), realmente no intentó erradicar el catalán ó el valenciano, gallego, leonés ó vasco. Más bien lo que intentó es que los nacionalismos causados por la Segunda República no tuviesen una gran influencia en el lenguaje y nombró el Castellano la lengua oficial y única (algo extremadamente erróneo pues, si de algo se caracteriza España, es de que ésta siempre há seguido una política de bilingüismo: Castellano como lengua franca y la lengua Regional como cooficial).
De cualquier manera, espero realmente no tener problemas por decir ésto pero... bueno... éso de los países catalanes me parece tonta. Ese mapa literalmente es el reino de Aragón pero sin éste último y éso sería mutilar la historia... y hé leído cómo la gente catalana independentista que considera a Cataluña como una colonia dice que, al independizarse de España, se hermanaría con los estados castellanos... y... pues éso es falso. De hecho Cataluña se hermanaría con los estados aragoneses (Nápoles, Sicilia, Cerdeña, Grecia, Argelia, etc). Ya que Aragón es el hermano de Castilla y la mayoría de los Hispanos somos hijos de Castilla en general
La verdad, en mi opinión, creo que España debería recuperar el nivel federal de los 5 reinos: León, Castilla, Granada, Aragón y Navarra
Pero... fervientemente creo que todo catalán, valenciano, aragonés y balear debería defender la unidad del Reino de Aragón dentro de España y la monarquía porque fuera serían reelegados de la Castellanidad y abandonados por la UE y... bueno, las repúblicas nunca funcionan. Vivo en México y la mayor parte de Hispanoamérica está de aqüerdo con que siempre las Repúblicas se preocupan en mantener un partido político en el poder y robar en vez de arreglar a la nación.

Mas que nada suelo hablar en inglés por el simple hecho de que puedo llegar mas fácilmente a un público mayor al ser un idioma que gran parte del mundo habla.

Yep, por desgracia el problema no es solo de Cataluña, prácticamente todas las comunidades autónomas sufren las consecuencias de tener un gobierno tan inútil, y de hecho hay mucha gente en España que quiere que el país vuelva a ser una república ya que el rey no hace absolutamente nada, y cuando lo hace no ayuda a solucionar ningún problema. De hecho, la última vez que hizo un discurso lo único que dijo es, en resumen, que la unidad de España está por encima de todo y que nos callemos la boca los catalanes.
Sobre el tema de "España nos roba", esto viene mas que nada de que Cataluña representa una gran parte del PIB Español, pero el dinero que invierte el gobierno en Cataluña es mucho menor del que sería lógico. Por ejemplo, hay varios aeropuertos literalmente vacíos repartidos por España, mientras que se niegan a hacer mejoras que necesitamos mucho en algunas infraestructuras importantes catalanas. Y todo esto dejando de lado los mas de 140 casos de corrupción del gobierno del PP, los cuales han salido inmunes de la gran mayoría de ellos.
Lo de Franco es en gran parte como dices. No se si intentó "erradicar" el idioma como tal, pero lo que sí se es que en según que situaciones estaba prohibido el uso del catalán según me han dicho varias personas que vivieron el franquismo. Y lo de los reinos, la verdad es que podría estar muy bien, ya que el sistema actual es un poco problemático y cada vez mas gente está descontenta con él. Actualmente nuestra prioridad es conseguir la independencia de Cataluña ya que la actitud del gobierno Español frente a todas las decisiones que toma nuestro gobierno nos está impidiendo avanzar hacia una sociedad mas justa. Por ejemplo, Cataluña aprobó leyes de pobreza energética, igualdad de genero, sobre el aborto, etc, y el gobierno de España las canceló todas sin ni siquiera dar un motivo por ello. Una vez tengamos eso, todo lo otro estará un poco mas cerca de ser una realidad, y entonces podremos luchar por ello. Y después de ver lo que los partidos independentistas están haciendo por nosotros, tengo bastante confianza en que van a ser un buen gobierno (sin ir mas lejos, nuestro presidente se enfrenta a unos posibles 30 años de prisión por "rebelión" por haber organizado el referéndum y proclamado la independencia, a lo cual lo ha presionado el pueblo).

La verdad éso de los 5 reinos me parece lo mejor para España.
Muchas veces todos piensan, en España, que la monarquía es algo negativo para la península cuando ésta realmente los proteje de tener una porquería de república como las que tenemos en hispanoamérica, filipinas y guinea... La verdad es que, éso de las repúblicas, no se nos dá a nosotros los hispanos :/
Por pero lado, lo de Cataluña parece que todo mundo, excepto España, está enterado de la situación histórica y geopolítica que acontece día con día en la península. No falta gente hispana ó anglosajona que defiende la independencia porque usan el argumento de ser una "colonia" ó tener cultura y lengua propias. Algo que, de ser verdad, dividiría a más de medio mundo en un centenar de países y convertiría a más de medio mundo en "colonias" cuando no lo son.
España tiene un grave problema porque tiene, lo que aquí en las Américas llamamos como, una «República coronada». Tenéis lo que tenéis porque tenemos un sistema nefasto con partidos políticos que hacen lo mismo en la península quire en las Américas y filipinas (guinea no porque es una dictadura) y el dinero público español se malgasta igual que en México
Por otra parte... He leído en informes europeos (y catalanes) que los del gobierno catalán roban más a Cataluña que toda España y, parte del dinero que sobra, lo guardaron en Andorra para sobrevivir una república independiente pero sólo por 3 años.
Si Chequia y Eslovaquia sufrieron mucho cuando se separaron.. No me imagino Cataluña fuera de la zona Euro y teniendo que pagar deudas billonarias...

The independence was declared 10th of october, but was temporally suspended right after by the catalan goverment itself to talk it with Spain's goverment (mostly because the EU encouraged our president to do so, cause all past attempts to talk were unsuccessful). However, as Spain is making no efforts to reply again, chances are it will be officially declared this month

Normally i would be happy to hear talks about independence, but right now my impression is that things are so bad that Spain is slowly turning into "pieces" of itself.

Through the whole Spanish history, they have always tried to supress our culture and language, their last dictator Francisco Franco even made it illegal. They spread lies about us constantly (they love to say that we are adoctrinated to be pro-independence since we're little, and that we discriminate spanish people, while that's absolutely false, we speak both catalan and spanish with complete normality since we start in school and we're not teached to discriminate anyone at all) and never cared nor will care about what we have to say. A giant chunk of spain hates the catalans just because of how manipulated the news are in spain, they are always shocked when they actually come here and discover we aren't the devil they portray us as.
Also, the "democracy" we have in spain is absolute bullshit, and this is evidenced by how they literally just sent to prison people involved with the administration of completelly pacific protests in favor of dialogue betwen spain and catalonia and/or the independence, while they are super proud of what the spanish police did the 1st of October to innocent people. And on top of that, the goverment is absolutelly corrupt, and some strange happened lately with "misterious deaths" of people who were going to declare against them. I often forget we actually live in the 21th century and not in the medieval age.
And then, economically, we are the most productive region in spain yet we are one of the last when it comes to puting it to use (there's a lot of empty airports in spain, for example, and they never listen to us when we ask for one of our infrastructures to be improved).
The catalan goverment asked for, literally, 18 times during some years to talk with the spanish goverment and negociate this, but they always say no because they completelly refuse to see us as equal. Both the catalan goverment and the catalans did our best to try and get them to listen, but it never happened and it doesn't look like it will happen.

Oh no don't get me wrong! I have a lot of spanish friends, there's a lot of nice people in there. It's just the goverment that, putting it in nice words, it's incredibily horrible and incompetent. There's a lot of people influenced by it, and it's kinda dangerous how it passively encourages fascism and doesn't punish fascists/franquists/neonazis at all, but despite of that there's still people with common sense.
