Description

Perhaps you’ve seen it before. Mayhaps in a fleeting memory of a dream. Maybe you’ve been there in person as well, though the memory of how will be lost to you. Rarely do people get a chance to enter that place, rarer still those willing to do so in the first place. That aside, whatever the circumstances are for your visit to that place it is important that you know of some of the rules during your time in the Watcher’s Cathedral.

  • Though it may seem like a church to you, know that it is both similar and not at the same time. Any attempt to use any religious items (i.e rosaries, religious scriptures, etc.) is futile. It is the faith of the holder, not the materials that matter in this place.

  • Be as quiet as possible and mute any unnecessary sounds during your stay within the cathedral. Those that inhabit this place do not take kindly to being disturbed.

  • You may look around, but try not to focus your gaze on one area for too long since you’ll begin to get nauseous at how this place doesn't make sense. It is symmetrical and asymmetrical at the same time.

  • Also, don’t attempt to look outside the cathedral. This place exists and travels through different realities and dimensions. Looking outside poses the dangers of catching a glimpse of something that will drive you to insanity.

  • If you see something moving in the shadows, know that it is not your eyes playing tricks on you. It may seem obvious but please refrain from trying to peer further in the shadows.

  • Try not to stray too close to the beings clinging to the pillars. They are normally docile but sometimes they do get hungry.

  • When passing by the flag holders, avoid trying to discern their faces. Their purpose is not known to you and it is unwise to disturb their vigil.

  • Don’t be tempted to look up at the ceiling, no matter the sound of weeping and gnashing that you may hear. Those souls are tormented for a reason and they do not deserve your pity. Their punishments are better left unseen, therein lay madness.

  • You may approach the altar but never proceed up the steps.

  • You may see other people here, but know that not everything is as they seem. The man in a priest’s attire is harmless unless you give him a reason not to be. If you’re lucky and happened upon this place only by accident, he may help you get out. Also don’t try confessing your sins to him, doing so is a death sentence.

  • Be warned when you catch a glimpse of the nun. Keep you head bowed or if not, then avoid looking directly at her. She keeps her true form concealed but sometimes the illusion fades momentarily and unprepared minds are thrust into madness and turmoil. Show reverence and respect to her, but never ever try to worship her, doing so is an automatic forfeiture of your life. The same can be said of the statue at the top of the altar which is an extension of her.

  • Should your presence be deemed unnecessary in this place and no further deed is asked of you, then you may leave. Close your eyes and turn from the altar. Walk straight and no matter what you hear, no matter the screams, the begging, the words that will strike at your very core, keep your eyes closed and never open them. Keep walking and your eyes shut until you find yourself in the waking world again.
