i like how you used the shadows to make the moon pop right out.
now i'm sure it was a prefab background, just with different colors. am i right?

I tried making the background a bit lighter, but it turned into this wierd bright yellow-ish color. But the moon itself I like.

for that you would've needed to play with hue, and such, in the retouch brush. there are also a few effects you could've tried.
