*I forgot to color the axe*

I'm posting this to Project Comment for constructive criticism, and I'd like to ask that you please critique the design of the character, rather than the reference itself. I know that the ref is baren and empty, it's meant to be, as I just want to focus on the design itself.

For context/background, Lance is a unicorn. All unicorns in my story have lion's manes and tails in which the hair tuft at the end extends into longer locks the same colors as the mane. Lance is a minor character in the story that I'm working on. He's the partner of an assassin leader and is the father of her children. From what little is known about him, he seems to be a good father who does care about his children and his partner. Due to the fact that he's the partner to the main villain of the story, we will get some scenes with both of them. I am unsure of what their relationship is like, however. May be a major character if I ever do a side story about the villain.

I'd like to know if the design itself is good, especially considering the context of this character. I am worried that the grey and yellow clash too much, or if I should make his mane or fur a different color. Need some feedback. Please, please share your thoughts about the design, and offer any changes I could make or what I could think about if I should redesign him.
