Description
Some mental asylums were not suitable places for the mentally ill. The treatment was poor and inappropriate. Hopefully things have improved and new modern mental institutions offer better therapeutic treatment.

Madness lies within all of us. Some are better at controlling it than others. Hopefully hospitals will find better, more humane treatments to help patients to recover.

All the world is mad. Some more so than others. It's a lot nicer now than it was then - however, the stigma remains (sadly).

You are absolutely right. Mental illness is not taken seriously. Thing are improving but it takes time.

Cutbacks to mental health have lead to deaths. In general things are getting better but financial constraints mean not enough money is being spent on mental health. The medication is getting better. I hope many lives benefit from such improvements.

I don't know if you heard about this: end of last year, 94 South African mental patients lost their lives during transport to other facilities. What you say reminds me of a picture I saw once. 2 glass jars on a counter. The one on the left says something like "please help Joey get a new kidney" and is full of money. The other one says "Jamie needs psychiatric care! We're desperate!" and has only a few coins inside. Organs over sanity.

I don't think hospitals have been doing better cause they still do ECT and they think you harm yourself for attention when that's not the case and some doctors still over medicate their patients. I was one that was over medicated and been took by nurse that I cut for attention when that's not the case. By the way like the picture and poem. Really good.
