I can relate to this. All the hate that Rodimus has gotten has gotten old now. I mean seriously, can't people get over it already? What's also sad is that he's had so few appearances since the original cartoon.

Honestly! He was such a good character, and a little more fleshed out than Optimus ever was in G1. Most people just hate him because he's different. And because he's not Optimus. I get maybe not liking his kind of brash personality, that's one thing, but the reasoning is always "He is stupid and got Optimus killed." #1, fair. #2, Optimus got himself killed by monologuing. BUT I MEAN. AnYWAY lmaooo
He does need more appearances!! Have you read the comics though? There is an entire arc that has Rodimus as the main character.

And they also hate him because he caused the death of Optimus in the 1986 movie. Which I forgave him for because it was the script writers who decided that should happen. Hotrod wanted to help. But it just didn't go as he thought it would when he interfered, and Galvatron used him as a shield so he could deliver the finishing blows. But the anger that I once felt for Rodimus because of that was short-lived. Because as time went on, I grew attached to him. He meant so much to me. And I had high hopes for him. But he always gets pushed to the side. And yet, Rodimus still has his fans as well as his haters. I have theorized that despite Rodimus' fanbase, that modern day animators and writers refuse to acknowledge his existence. And when they do acknowledge him, they don't give him an important role, and they basically make him into a joke. And that is SHAMEFUL. Rodimus deserves better than that despite that some people think quite the opposite. And yes, I have read the comics. And at least the comics do him better justice than Animated or Cyberverse ever have.

I didn't like the ending of Lost Light for a couple of reasons. :/ But I really loved how Rodimus was portrayed through out the rest of the run. A kid with no idea what he's doing, trying to find his place in the universe while trying to save it at the same time. And his heart is so, so big. Chosen by the Matrix, and the Prime who even Primus himself followed. I shed so many tears.
But honestly, you're right about all the other portrayals. It's really upsetting.
Honestly, like I said, it wasn't even Hot Rod's fault Optimus died. Megatron was going for the gun the whole time anyway, and Optimus sat there just... TALKING about how Megatron was begging for "mercy". Megatron is my all time fave, but even I have to agree that like, dude. You should have shot him then and there. You can't blame Hot Rod for Optimus' own stupidity. If anything, Hot Rod was trying to buy him some time, but went up against an opponent he wasn't matched to take anyway. Even if Hot Rod hadn't intervened, Optimus was dead by his own doing.

Oh my, this is really cool. When I see this fellow, I think Transformers, the movie (with the epic battle with Unicron and Galvatron and matrix). In the movie, Rodimus Prime is a total badass, and that movie is probably one of the main reasons I enjoy the offhand 80s rock heheh.
I still associate The Touch with general kickassery and Rodimus himself!
