I've had a special affection towards these two ever since I saw scenes of the Pokémon Heroes movie. The fact that these two went through excruciating challenges to reunite with one another, only for Latios to sacrifice himself at the end was heartbreaking. I know a fair number of people and Pokémon alike gave up their lives to prevent disasters in the Pokémon anime, but I find it more depressing considering they're siblings that were split apart.
I won't ever forget these two and even then, I can't since I just got the Toy Pokémon version of Latios on Pokémon Rumble World today even though it took every Poké Diamond I had to get him... Does it make me a little sadistic that I used Latias to catch Latios?

I wouldn't think it's sadistic. More like a reunion, since realistically it might make the other sad if they couldn't be with that one you already own.
But yeah, the movies really know how to make Pokémon deaths more heavy than most other deaths. ;n; Though it's kind of bittersweet as the island gets some new Eons in the end to look after the city.

Yeah, that's one [positive] way to look at it. It would've happened a lot sooner if there weren't any restraints in this freemium (i.e. the wait times and only one free visit per day from other Miis).
That's true, although it makes you wonder why these Pokémon only flock to this city? Is it just because of the Soul Dew or because that area and its inhabitants are always in danger? If the latter's true, those people should really relocate and start over.

There's a cut beginning piece of exposition that shows the reason the Eons keep surveillance on the island. Basically the sibling Eons washed up there years ago and were taken care of by possibly Lorenzo and his wife. I'm presuming anyway. But they sheltered the two as they were manifesting as human children, and when some dark force threatened the island, the two transformed and called more Eons to drive it back. One of the Eons, possibly one of the oldest ones, then endowed a Soul Dew to them as a memento and protection talisman of sorts. And I guess with that, they promised the old couple that Eons would always watch over the island.

That actually makes me want to pack up and move to that island. Think about it: You're in a town protected constantly by at least two psychic dragons on a planet that's protected by a giant flying dragon (Rayquaza). Unfortunately since such an amazing locale doesn't exist here, I'll just have to sulk.

Lol no problem. I'd love to live there as well, just as long as the events in Vyper's rendition of the place don't happen. XD And yeah, hence they're my favorite Pokémon out of them all. There's some close runner-ups, but they'll always be a tie at the top of my list~
And the closest place to Altomare is Venice, Italy, which it was actually based on I believe.

Actually now that I recall the many horrifying Pokédex entries for many Pokémon in the Pokémon world, I might change my mind. Besides knowing for sure which Pokémon are absolutely safe (like Latios and Latias), I'm probably going to be too weary of leaving my local area anytime soon in that scenario. I wouldn't mind interacting with a Trainer's Pokémon (as long as I know the boundaries), but never wild Pokémon.
Yeah, I've heard of that too. It's a series staple that all Pokémon regions and outer towns are based on real world geography. Areas were originally solely named after different regions in Japan, but now the naming convention's expanded to an international scale.

I wonder when they'll make a game based on some anime locations, like say, Neon City, or Altomare and such. I'd love to play that kinda game, even though they'd probably be scaled down to fit the cartridge space like every place between the game places and renditions in the anime. :/ Kinda like what the rom Pokémon Grey did.

I don't see that one happening, especially since the only Pokémon game to take place in the anime's universe was Pokémon Puzzle League. However, this doesn't mean the anime doesn't influence the Pokémon games. Pokémon Yellow Version was actually modeled more after the anime due to a fair amount of criticism that was made towards Pokémon Red Version and Pokémon Blue Version. People mainly complained that the depiction of the Pokémon in those games was inaccurate to the anime. They redesigned the Pokémon sprites in Pokémon Yellow Version to be more in line with the anime's depictions and also added the scenarios of the main protagonist being stuck with Pikachu as their first Pokémon and Team Rocket goons pursuing the player, both cues from said anime. Even more recently, the way you can force Eevee into evolving to either Vaporeon, Jolteon, or Flareon by naming it either Rainer, Sparky, or Pyro in Pokémon GO! is another Pokémon anime reference. Pokémon Grey seems neat, but it's unofficial nonetheless.

After actually watching and thinking about the Pokemon Heroes movie, it got me thinking that Latios and Latias are definitely my most favorite Legendary/Mythical mascots of all the movie mascots.
But unfortunately, the games aren't exactly supporting them as much... Like, it was nice how Pokemon Rangers Guardian Signs and Pokemon Omega Ruby/Alpha Sapphire had them as major Pokemon for traveling, and how the first Pokemon Mystery Dungeon(Red and Blue) involved the two in a plot in the post game. But at other times, the two are either not as big as other Legendaries, they're not involved at all, or they're pretty much kicked out of the game like in a CERTAIN OTHER GAME. >:l
Also, um, did you play Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon yet through the whole plot? If so, I just feel like chatting about a certain thing about it with ya here in the comments.

This is so true in so many levels. although I definitely a fan of the latis. and I know I have some OCs a bit different although a few are nearest to the original. but like my latias OC enatias.
she's actually some darker red than a normal latias.
But knowing how the fandom can sometimes forget the two. but I can definitely tell you that I will never forget the original Latias & Latios c:

Well I was trying to get a subtle point across that since they've been revealed back when there was only 3 generations of Pokemon, and their movie debuted, I've seen so many fan characters of the two. I know the original ones aren't quite as interesting, but it was to show that without them, none of the fan characters would exist. If you think about it, there's a whole plethora of fan lati's, and only a small fraction even resemble the normal ones.

These two are two of the most awesome pokemon! I prefer Latias over Latios, personally, but that's because it looks cuter to me and it's liek the "little brother/sister"
