Mapplethorpe, Robert 1946–1989American artist whose single-image black-and-white photographs often depict flowers, the human nude, and male homoeroticism.

After G.P. Lynes, Mapplethorpe is my favorite male nude photographer.
My favorite nude work of his is Man in polyester suit 1980.
An idea to try to copy his wors followed me for some time. In 2005 I had an agenda with his flower works. (In 2006 I've got a National Geographic Wildlife agenda)
This photo is a tribute to his flower-work.

Amazing composition here. Your eye for this is incredible, to include the shadow of the window & plant.
I do love how the lighting seems orange, so strong and of course just enhances the overal scene. Gorgeous work

the wall is really orange - actually vermillion (color between red and orange). and it was almost sunset. i did couple of shots in the morning that day.. but it just didn't feel right. i decided to wait for the evening light (my favorite natural light source). and it all came together....

Fantasticna boja, tekstura, senka, cvet..... Moram priznati da bi ovoj fotografiji vise odgavarao neki kvadratniji format jer mi se cini da ima previse prostora ismedju zida i cveta i cveta i ivice fotografije. Naravno to je cepidlacenje i bez toga ovo je fenomenalna fotografija...

A surreally clean studio shot, even though the studio is your room apparently. The shadow of the flower nodding to the right of the frame makes me feel as if there's someone next to the flower that you cannot see. Well of course there is--you, the photographer. But I don't think that's what I mean. Does anyone else get an odd and mysterious intuition from the shadow of the flower?
