Description
Mapplethorpe, Robert 1946–1989American artist whose single-image black-and-white photographs often depict flowers, the human nude, and male homoeroticism.
More about Mapplethorpe
After G.P. Lynes, Mapplethorpe is my favorite male nude photographer.
My favorite nude work of his is Man in polyester suit 1980.
An idea to try to copy his wors followed me for some time. In 2005 I had an agenda with his flower works. (In 2006 I've got a National Geographic Wildlife agenda)
This photo is a tribute to his flower-work.

The sharpness of the flower is so great. The shadow adds to it perfectly

I'm very glad that the suggestor said to view this fully, I can appreciate it much more fully that way.
Thanks, also, for the artist background. It's much appreciated.

I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned it, but instead of using color-select for just the orange hues, you should have used it on the green as well. It's so faded in this photo, it almost makes the flower look diseased.
Otherwise, though... I love the concept. It's always nice to see flowers in a new light and this is definitely that. The shadow-play is wonderful. Nice job.

who said i used that for the orange hues? (the answer is no)
maybe i'll alter this green for the better - i'll think about it. thank you for your notion.

gorgeous colors! they don't give me a headache at all but some people might object.
there's a lot of great detail in the flower but overall the forms are not too distinct - i especially like the flowerpot's texture.

green details are: 50 for a small bag, 100 for a big bag
(in reality your question is far beyond my simple mind. i have no idea what you mean)

gorgeous still life photo. framing is exccellent as well as color tone and balance. the shadow gives the impression that the flower is actually in the middle of the photo. great great great!

I just wish we could see a little bit of the base (table ?) where the flower is standing, it seems a little "cut" like this (duh, sorry for my english)
but woahhh this is so peaceful to look at
warm colors, beautiful light, beautiful shadows... I will definitely +fav it

I like it. The strong colors stand out against the black, drawing your eyes immediately to them. That's so cool.

Oddly it was the title Mapplethorpe, not the image that first caught my eye. But I'm glad I clicked because this image is absolutely stunning. It has an amazing composition that draws my eyes back and forth and the colors are just SO intense. Great shot !

I absolutely adore the colors! And, if I knew where you lived, I'd attack your room and put a flag stating that it was mine. I love orangey-reddish colors, 'specially vermillion, and would paint my room that way but we rent...
But on the bright side...finally, I found someone who likes the colors that I like!
