Description
Size reference on left.Zipmuk - Similar to salamander or newt
May have spikes or frills down spine/tail.
Habitat - Swamp
In the wilds, Zipmuks are dirty brown-muddy green colors. Eyes are bright.
Tongues are typically dark yellow-orange and stick out when happy.
Needle-like teeth.
Once they have been tamed and bonded with a swamp okcovjek they begin to take on a similar color to that of their new companion, as well as mimicking the toxic markings. Depending how independent or clingy the Zipmuk is the toxic markings will either be in much the same places as its companion, if close; and a randomized pattern if more independent.
Some have a complimenting color gradient like the bottom example. Some have stripes of a darker or lighter gradient than their body color.
Their feet are very sticky without leaving residue, and can climb very well whether it be a tree, rock, or their favorite swamp okcovjek. They like to perch on heads or shoulders and even tails if allowed.
The frills behind their ears have tiny pores which open in the water to allow water into their gills within.
Their skin is pebbled like a newt.
They can swallow small turtles whole, and barf up the shell later. They also eat crayfish, fish, toads, frogs, turtle eggs, opposum, mostly anything smaller than they are. Hair/bones/chiton/feathers get barfed up in a slimball later. Their favorite food seems to be large turtle/bird eggs.
There is no visible difference between males and females, the only way to tell is if you happen to catch yours laying her eggs under foliage over the water. She will lay them so that they stick to branches or large sturdy leaves over the water. Typically 2-6 eggs will be laid, and they require no more effort from the parent once laid. When they hatch they will drop into the water with two legs and a tail, they will be fully matured at 8 months of age, and live about 70-80 years if they survive into adulthood. Birds, turtles, toads, fish etc will all eat a zipmuk fry. And many swamp critters will eat the eggs of one if found.
They are very lazy, but if there's food involved can move very quickly.
