Description
Finally colored this. I wanted to draw Toad from W&TXM (Wolverine and The X-Men) and this was inspired by the Time Bomb episode. Poor guy nearly gets left behind in jail by Pietro; the Brotherhood are sick of bailing him out whenever the MRD catch him. And the rest of the episode he seems very unsure about his place with his 'brothers' and notably subdued.I think it's kinda sad that the Brotherhood would go from
'Yeah, we'll always be there for ya' to 'Oh god, not you again.' Poor Mort.

I feel sorry for Mort too, yeah sure he can be annoying but why would you leave your own teammate behind? Mortimer's my fav character in the series and he's never had enough respect

I agree with you on your second point. First Domino says "We don't abandon our own... just look at Toad" then goes "Oh, gee, Toad's back. What a surprise." Morty doesn't get nearly enough love. Well, there's another season on the way so... hope for the future

True dat. Though, I think Mort and Nightcrawler could be good friends (assuming Toad can get over the whole Kurt-dating-his-crush thing). They could totally bond over the fact that they've looked like monsters their whole lives
Actually, it's kind of funny how the creators decided to go with Toad's Ultimate look, and the Ulti-verse is the one in which Toad becomes an official X-man (issue 93, I think it was). Hmm... ah, better not let my overactive imagination get any hopes up.
And btw, did you know that the entire first season of WatXM is online? [link] The episodes are actually on different sites, but they're all archived on the page I linked.
One last thing before my ramble-fest ends; who do you think Toad should end up with? Since Wanda's taken, I think he and Domino would make a cute, dysfunctional couple. Like Peter and Lois Griffin

hehe. I'm actually all for Toad ending up with Forge (is a slasher like whoa) but as for him and a girl . . . Not sure about Domino/Toad. It would be a challenge. If there's a straight pairing for Toad in the future, I'd almost say Toad/Rahne - provided Rahne is even in the show next season.

Actually, she makes a cameo in the first season, in the episode "Backlash." It's one of the ones that hasn't aired in the U.S. yet. Dunno if she'll reappear, though.

Todd was always my favorite Toad, but the WatX version is easily a close second, he's always having crap happen to him...and some of it he brings on himself.

it doesn't really stick out, it's just I was looking at the picture for a while (mostly cuz it was either that or write an essay, but also I was trying to work out how you got such beautiful colours while still keeping the whole thing dark) and was all sort of 'sweet! it's a car. on a billboard!'

heheh, thank you. Mostly I played around with color layers and opacity in photoshop. When I shade, I make a new layer and set it to 'multiple', then use a medium or light shade of gray to add depth. If it turns out too dark, I can make it more transparent and play around.

God it's so sad yet so beautiful. I'm sick of seeing poor Toad be pushed around in every X-Men animated series they come up with. He'll probably join Wolverine & The X-Men since the series is based of the Ultimate X-Men comics where Toad becomes a teacher at the x-men's mansion.
