Description Happy new year! To kick off 2014 I decided to do a little speedie. :] I'm starting to feel better from my 'depression' and am feeling re-inspired! This is my first attempt at matte painting. Here, I've used a photo I took of a beautiful sunset and added some simple elements in it to make it more interesting. I like how it came out. My new years resolution is to draw and paint a lot more. Β

O: the creators of the videogame Halo made a massively multiplayer online first-person shooter called Destiny. It's chalk full of goreous outer-space scenes, aliens, spaceships, & planets.
Hope that kind of summed it up :]

The clouds are actually a picture I took a while back and sunset, I edited the colors and contrast a bit. The ship and mountains were colored in on a separate layer and the planets were done a long time ago on a separate document. I just took the planets and dropped them into the scene. I changed the layer mode to screen and erased the parts that didn't get any light or were blocked by the clouds.
