Description This time the image has all together 43 layer and while my PC has rendered
the image, Jackie aka ~Mignon has posted two of her wonderful homework
images. I had already thought that I've maybe worked to complicated and
have thereby produced unnecessary layer. This suspicion has been confirmed,
after I have looked Jackies images. Now I have to rework this image and I
hope I can save 5 or 6 layer.

All together I've probably worked more then 10 hours on it and I've needed
only for the shadow two hours. At first I'd to come up with something to generate
the shadow and then the adjustment of the gradiente has taken a lot of time.
And although I'm not happy with the shadow. I've still to learn a lot with the
gradient adjustment. To work with Screen-Relative coordinates on a rectangular
image with even borders comprised a lot of mathematical stuff, but I really
enjoyed those part of the work. The middle part contents one of my early
exercises, but I had always the feeling this image was not really ready and
so I've reworked it once again and, in addition, have added the texture for
the background.

Created with Ultra Fractal. No Postwork, all done with UF.

All comments and advices are very welcome und much appreciated.

FULL VIEW IS MUCH BETTER!

Just a thought..but have you ever looked into studying some color theory?

The reason I ask...while working within different saturations of the same hue is ok, this piece really needs some variance. Maybe a few analogous hues...split complimentary...something alomg those lines?

Don't take this the wrong way...but this piece is just kinda blah...I mean blue!...lol....

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

denise-g In reply to sharkrey [2006-05-15 10:10:48 +0000 UTC]

I know that you mean not only blue, but also blah, and with it you are completely right.
If I am honest, I must admit that I especially have not looked after the color.
Actually, only the technical side has interested me in it and this figure out from solution
ways for the middle frame and the shadow. Quite honestly, do you really think, this image
is worth an other thought or even an other minute of time? Me neither.
The only challenge which could appael me would be to learn how I could give a completely
other colouring to a ready image.
I will think about it, later. At the moment other things are much more interesting.

denise-g In reply to Translucent-Image [2006-05-15 10:24:02 +0000 UTC]

Thanks Benj, but the only point I agree is the hard work and this was also a lot of fun.
But hard work is still no guarantee for a good image. The only really good in this image
is what I have learned during the work on it. I think Gary is absolute right, if he think
this image needs some variations. I should have laid more attention on it.
Maybe later...

This is another beautiful image Denise. I looked at you posted homework ufr and I'm amazed at how quickly you have learned from Janet's course, super, super work!!!!

I'm not sure there are any right or wrong ways to do things in UF if you achieve your desired result, as you have here. The benefits we learn are how masks, clips etc work together and how to simplify what we do and perhaps save some time we spend on our images. Even though I have been doing this for a number of years I'm still learning better techniques every day and better ways to do things through Janet's course.

Beautiful image and 'excellent' masking with some pretty awesome textures in there to

Thank you so much for you're lovely comment Jackie.
>>how to simplify what we do....<< I'm always fascinated how easy it looks if I have a look
at your parameters. Your work is not only beautiful, it is so logical and efficient and it shows
me, with some more practice one can do incredible things with less layers or an incredible
gradient. I don't know why but I really have the feeling these class will give me a huge kick
forward, in every case I really enjoy the work with masks.

I really enjoy these class so much and I think I improve my skills a lot at this time. All of the

Thanks for the lovely comment Trystian!

This is very softly beautiful. the blues are lovely, the background is nicely textured and the gold highlights are so pretty with the blues! 43 layers! Wow!

Thank you so much Kat, I'm really glad you like it.
lol...yes 43 layers but a lot of these layers are masks but although
my pc is not amused with so many layers. If I try to work with an image
in a higher size, so that I can see some details, then the pc is soooo slow.
Also I'm working with images in a lower size and then the bad surprises
come with the rendered images...hahaha

LaPurr In reply to denise-g [2006-05-14 07:20:27 +0000 UTC]

You're very welcome. I'm just beginning to try and work with masks, so I only have a small idea of what you're going through. Hopefully I'll learn enough to do something this complex in the future.

I'm not sure if I will use all of these techniques in future but it's good to know
how these techniques work. for borders I think I would prefer PS or other programs.
But the used technique is transferable for other things.

LaPurr In reply to denise-g [2006-05-14 08:19:53 +0000 UTC]

I think it's good that you want to know how to do something even if you're not sure you'll ever need it. It means that you'll understand the program and its workings all the better. I've discovered that knowledge becomes necessary at the strangest times, so you'll probably need this information in the future. In fact, I'd bet on it.

denise-g In reply to LaPurr [2006-05-14 08:31:38 +0000 UTC]

Yes, i also think so. I love to understand how programs work because this makes me free
to create the things in mayn different ways. I often think, it's alike to drive a car. If you're
familiar with the car and how it works, then you are free to hear music or smoke or make
some other things at the same time. To know things can make you independent...

LaPurr In reply to denise-g [2006-05-14 09:05:17 +0000 UTC]

Knowledge can make one independent, confident, secure, aware, smarter...all sorts of things that I think are good. There is a saying that ignorance is bliss...I agree about a few things, but mostly I think ignorance makes one ignorant and nothing more. I think that there is enough ignorance in the world...we need knowledge and the freedom it provides. We also need more intelligent people!!!

denise-g In reply to LaPurr [2006-05-15 12:57:06 +0000 UTC]

Yes I also know this saying and sometimes I have wished, I could return in a state of the ignorance,
but, unfortunately, the reversal is not possible without commemorative loss.
Also we have this saying: Knowledge is power. I have always found, knowledge signifies in the same
way also responsibility, not only in policy or science, but in every area of the people touched.

LaPurr In reply to denise-g [2006-05-15 16:24:58 +0000 UTC]

I agree: knowledge does bring responsibility...whether that responsibility is used is another matter.

Vielen Dank Barbara!
