Description Here is my first tutorial on editing! I'm running out the door right now, but wanted to get it up before I left. I will go over it again when I get home to see if I need to catch any errors I made.

Remember, this is just the way I edit my photos, not a go-to-for-all!

Comments and questions welcome!

Depends on if you're upgrading or buying new. See adobe.com for prices. If you're a student, go to journeyed.com for a huge discount.

Great tutorial! I'm very glad you included editing out the imperfections. So many people just skim over it (if they mention it at all) as though doing any kind of edits like that are a bad thing.

As long as it doesn't compromise integrity, I'm all for enhancing the quality of the photo! I'm glad you like it!

Thank you for posting this example of editing, I must say I didn't expect the lion to have some of the scars and strands of hair removed.

You are most welcome.

Are you meaning from the final result you wouldn't have guessed they were edited out, or that you would have chosen to edit them out?

ayashige In reply to DeniseSoden [2009-12-24 21:18:00 +0000 UTC]

I wouldn't have guessed they were edited out. I'm kind of afraid to start photoshopping them, first, I don't want to rely on it too much, it would make me lazy when taking pictures, and second... once I start, I can't stop XD...

DeniseSoden In reply to ayashige [2009-12-25 00:41:23 +0000 UTC]

Ahhh hahah. I always make it a point to only edit out what is necessary for a good final product. Never think that being lazy is the answer It takes SO much more time to edit than it does to get the shot right the first time. With animals though, that's not always possible, removing mud from a male, or a piece of hay in fur. That's where editing is handy.

An excelent tutorial dear, I wish I had cs4. . . I'm forced to make do with elements. . . but the delight of this tutorial is that you haven't used a single tool I dont have with my cheapy PS elements.

Also the picture itself is beautiful, look at those eyes

Thanks, my dear! CS4 is beautiful to work with. It's slow, which is annoying, but the blending/smoothness is awesome.

How/where you been? I miss you!

Haha no no facebook. I still have the myspace but I check it like once a month. I'm kinda over that kind of thing. Deviant art is the closest I have to an online community.

Once this is in it's final state (I noticed a few simple spelling mistakes) than I honestly think this should get a Daily Deviation, for real. The way you have laid this out is so professional and clean looking. You definitely have a way of making things easy to follow and simple to understand. Following this same layout and all, I think you should definitely consider doing more tutorials. You did an amazing job with this, Denise.

Yay! Thank you. I'll try to pull myself away from the new pictures to catch those errors and re-upload. I think I may upload it a little wider too, so it can been seen a little easier.
