My entry for *stressedjenny 's contest. The purpose is to take this drawing and design tattoos for the chick.

Well, I decided to make her into my character Malachai's girlfriend, Chloe. She doesn't actually have any tattoos, but if she did get any, it would definitely be the one across the back of her shoulders... it has a special meaning.

Chloe's mother died when she was younger, and so the dreamcatcher in the middle of the shoulder piece stands for her. Malachai is part Native American, so Chloe would love to incorporate that imagery into the piece. He even has a dreamcatcher on his arm.

The feathers along the rest of the upper piece are for the parents and sisters of her closest friend, Ezio. They were murdered several years ago, and as a result, Ezio's "friends" chemically induced memory loss, and dropped him off in another city so he would not go after the people who murdered them. This left him travelling around the country, with no other knowledge than his name and that he had money and a motorcycle left to him. This devastated Chloe, as they were all but brother and sister, and even joked that they were twins separated at birth. They have since been reunited.

The rest of the tattoo work comes from the fact that Chloe is a very earthy person. She has a quirky personality that is a mixture of soft and sarcastic. Perfect for roses. They're beautiful, but you should watch out for the thorns! Her name even means "verdant and blooming." The Faith in script is her middle name, and she equates faith and fate to be the same thing. It's also a nod to her biological father, whom she has never met, but she knows he watches out for her.

Lastly, the feathers are a tribute to both Malachai and Ezio. Ezio's most distinguishing tattoo is an eagle spread across his back, and comes from the fact that his name does in fact, mean "eagle." Malachai has the dreamcatcher tattoo, as well as a crow across the back of one shoulder, a cover-up tattoo of the name of an ex. In a way, the feathers are a way of having the two men that mean the most to her, with her always.

Since the tattoos are not real for her at this point, we can say that Malachai drew them on her in henna or some sort of paint. He paints motorcyles, and things like that, for a living.
