I assume if you got his name from a Gold/Silver/Crystal manga, that most people don't read it(I haven't gotten the chance yet, at least). I just assumed that if you played Silver, your name was silver and your rival was gold. Vice versa if you played Gold. I've heard people called Gary Red, when I always thought he was Blue.

Technically, Gary is Green.
...And I only knew that because I got both Red and Green in the original Japanese versions. Like, the first week of release. Didn't understand a word of it. Guess that's why I never beat it... Not until I got the English Red, since my Japanese games were lost when we moved back to America from Japan.
...All I know is that the cool color is always the name of the rival and the warm color is the name of the MC.

Yeah, Green was like America's Blue or something ,right? I heard about that.
Well, either way the games were all epic. Glitches are so fun. It would have been neat had they made a movie or dedicated an episode to Missingno or whatever that pokemon's name was. >: It wasn't real, though, and just evolved into a Kangaskan so I guess it's only natural.
