Description
The magnificent Skógafoss waterfall beside the small town of Skógar on Iceland's south coast. This waterfall was the last, the biggest and best of twenty or more otherwise very impressive waterfalls that dotted the descent of our hike through the glaciers Mýrdalsjökull and Eyjafjallajökull (the Thórsmörk-Skógar trail). The height of the fall is 200ft - the people are not standing anywhere near the base.Iceland, September 2010
Pentax K-x
HDR from single RAW in Photomatix.
Thanks for looking! Check out my other Iceland photos in the gallery.

This would be a great shot regardless. And normally I avoid having people in my nature shots when possible. But in this case, the presence of the people there marveling at the waterfall actually really makes this shot stand out

Regardless of where the people were standing? Yeah, it would have shown scale better if the people were closer to the falls, but for the interest of the photo it's probably best that they were close. Thanks for commenting on and favoriting the photo!

I don't know about regardless of where they're standing, but where they are here works

It was lucky, I don't know the people and I certainly didn't pose them.

Amazing! Very nice, and amazing how you can get images like this from single RAW image. Really nice composition as well

Thank you very much! Yes, there's a lot of information captured in the RAW file. You can get a lot from it by adjusting the exposure levels in a program like Lightroom, but Photomatix does better with its tone mapping. Cheers.

I had to go back a second time to get it. The first time my good camera was too wet and wasn't working. Was very lucky that the second time there was nice weather and a rainbow.

Thank you. I was lucky to have only 4 random people in the photo, and they were posing very nicely, though they didn't know it.
