High resolution sprites of Blooey, Luigi’s Blooper “partner” from his story in Paper Mario The Thousand Year Door.

On his quest to recover the Marvelous Compass’ parts, Luigi met up with Blooey. Together, they trekked up to Rumblebump Volcano and encountered a golem. During the battle, Luigi noticed a ruby atop the golem. Thinking fast, Luigi threw Blooey at the golem, defeating it!

...Or that’s how Luigi remembered it. Blooey, however, told quite a different tale. According to him, Luigi missed, and Blooey took a hot lava bath. Though the golem was still dealt with, Blooey was furious at Luigi for his...blooper.

Blooey has a picture cameo in the recut of the Wii U game.

When I was remastering Blooey, it occurred to me that unlike certain overexaggerated criticisms lobbed at the classic partners in the wake of a certain game’s second trailer... Blooey really IS just an orange Blooper. Like, even the eyes are just tinted orange. To remedy this, I added subtle burn marks to the top of his head and tip of his tentacles.
