Description
Magnetic is a web company that has beautiful natural surroundings, located on a lake and wildlife preserve, so I really wanted to reflect that in the design (the turtle is actually one of the many that hangs around the office). The site has a day/night script that automatically detects the time and switches themes accordingly. You can also switch it manually using the sun/moon icons at top-right.
UPDATE: Magnetic no longer has the site up, but you can see an archived version of it here: [link]

Thanks for the kind words friend. Just curious, why won't it work on your machine? I am not too familiar with Ubuntu, but I would assume that if it can run Firefox, it should be able to play Flash movies like any other Firefox. Can you play Flash normally?

Yes, I can play flash normally. The difference is the aggregate, flash isn't really installed onto a browser, but onto an operative system. It adds a plugin to the browser to allow the browser to render the flash itself, without having to export it to an external player. The flash players are supposed to be identical, but that's not always the case - the same issue is present with JVM's over different operative systems. I don't have a debugger installed at home, and it's not actually my own computer so unfortunately I can't install one and get you a log for it. It's probably some minor detail that some players accept and others doesn't - it's even possible that the ubuntu flash player isn't very well developed, and has missed things altogether.

This is truly a work of art. The whole site is beautiful, animations are nice, fast, and not annoying. Great stuff

Very, very nice, one of the best web designs I've seen. Hope I'll be making designs just as great when I get better lol.

Thanks man. I started somewhere too. The best advice I can give is to never let other people's work discourage you from getting where you want to be. No matter how good someone seems to be, it's always achievable. Just keep at it.

That is a beautiful arrangement. I like how the vegetation overlaps elements within the core box. It keeps the look from becoming sterile.

Great website made.
Only a few things, at higher resolution you see some black squares.
And you should remove the menu if you click right with mouse. Ask me if yo don't know how to do that.
But the rest, AWESOME. As one said already, feels like a HTML page!

1. Thanks
2. What's wrong with black space? (Stop making your browser obnoxiously large. Websites are small.)
3. Yea I know how to do it.

2. Ehm, its simply just ugly and unprofessional.
But what you can do is this, export the image surrounded by the white stroke [link]
Add it to your scene, and the "onload" has the following code:
shapename._width = Stage.width
That should work.

Cool, I'll give it a shot

I used it to on this site [link] , but this even has a loop to check if the Stage size is different because you stretched your browser for example.
But best is maybe to export a 1px width image and in Flash set the width to lets say 3000px. But I've no idea what that does to performance.

Why does everyone use 1px tiles? I find that using a slightly larger tile (like 50px) has more benefits. For one, it's less strain on the video card to repeat a 50px tile than a 1px tile. Secondly, it makes it a lot easier to see a thumbnail preview of the tile in your images folder (just try visually identifying a specific 1px tile among many... yea I know that's what names are for, but still). And really, you don't save any file size by making it 1px (both the 1px tile and a 50px tile are under a kilobyte.) Anyway, just some info. Thanks for your info. I'm gonna try it on Monday when I go back to work.

If you click the "send" button it doesn't require any content.
But that's not all, the button disappears, but you can still click it and it plays the same animation again, and it sends another empty mail.
Same is for the menu, you can click a button to a page you see already.
Hope you angry I spammed a lot

Thanks Yea it did take a while. I'm not an Actionscript guy, more of a design guy, so my structure was tedious. I'm learning though.

Why do people keep calling it a template? It's a 100% original creation.
