This scene takes place during the Dark Fate storyline, In which Overlord begins to hatch a very devious and maniacal plan to time travel to the past in order to prevent the formation of the Dimensional Avengers and the Phantom Thieves....By Killing them.

He comes across a portal, but the problem is that someone is standing in his way.
And someone is the Guardian.

The Guardian refuses to let the psychotic Decepticon access to the portal, Which only tests Overlord's patience and comes to the conclusion that the only way he is going to have to get through the portal and achieve his goal is that he is going to kill the Guardian.

Brutally.
