I'm not sure if there is a stamp of this somewhere but the point is i'm sick of people who can't read the artist's comments.Its there for a reason, people. and i'm tired of people asking which anime my OCs are, when i clearly stated that the characters belong to me and all
seriously.

Hm, it's the opposite for me. I don't have time to filter through hundreds of deviations. There's just too many to see all of it, and everyone one of them were posted for a reason. I like to give my time to any artist, cause that artist took time to draw it, and it's free to watch. I feel I should at least share my appreciation, cause,that's hard work they put into. It's not just a pic to glance and, "Oh that's nice", fave and look else where. I mind as well say screw their hard work while I'm at it, cause some artist really feel that way. Myself included. We artist are a sensitive breed after all. Gotta spread some love once in awhile. At least.

It's discouraging when no one reads the commentaries. And it's just as frustrating when they fave without sharing a reason why they liked it. Or at least give the artist some props for creating the art. Eh, the war between Deviants and Myspace artist continues. XD We need to keep this art community alive. The stamp thing is an excellent idea. One of many weapons to fight the "myspace cancer" before it spreads.

I don't always comment when I fav a deviation; partly it's due to the fact that for really popular deviants, it's not clear that they read all of the comments.

Hm, very good point. I've had that before, I never get a reply from popular artist. I can't really say why, but I can only assume that they can't keep up with everyone. The best way is to write something thoughtful. Most people leave short replies anyway, and at least a thoughtful comment will make the artist feel more appreciative. Everyone wants to know what we like about their pic, so it's best to share that reason the way we would describe the details of a favorite car. Thoughtful comments usually stands out like a red dot in the middle of the newspaper. So even if I never get a reply, personally, I'll leave a comment anyway, cause hey, most people don't write the way I do. I like to take the road less traveled by. It makes a world of a difference. Besides that, if I want others to comment my work, I would rather lead by example. Somebody's gotta keep the community alive. I just as well be one of the first to try.

I have lukewarm feelings about writing a lengthy comment when I'm not sure that they'll even see it. I've written several critiques, however; because at least when they've clicked "accept critique," you know that they've seen it.

Oh that. I was actually never able to do that unless I had one of those premium thingy. Hehe. I just write lengthy comments on the regular. It's actually allot of fun too if you do interpretations. It's like when you read a book you travel into the world of the artist's mind. It's a real personal benefit either way. I've discovered allot of interesting stuff from interpreting allot of art works, it's mind stimulating for me personally. In fact, I would love to check out your gallery and do an interpretation. ^^

That's ok. I value practice art allot. Without it, allot of great works could never stem on it's own. It comes from practice. That's where all your master pieces is going to come from. It starts with what you have been drawing. Be encouraged and hold onto your dreams, your passion. I seriously believe that you will produce allot of great works of art. You being on DA is one reason I can think of, it's a great place to be inspired and also meet people who can encourage you to be the best at what you love doing. Maybe not allot of people really told you this, but, it will be an honor for me to be one of the first to share that with you here. ^^

You see a piece made of pure art, must have taken days or weeks (maybe months) to finish. The artists comment:

Agreed. Sometimes you should ask the commenters to put something in their comment, like a certain smiley or something. Then watch how about 50 procent will and 50 procent won't.

It goes to show you: when people are too lazy, are assholes or new/00bs, they don't read. Sometimes I will hint to take a look at the artists comments, and I find that people don't take time to read them. People seem to not know what hinting is. *sigh*

Yes... of course people should read the artist's comments... but there should be a "Write the artist's comment!" too. I've seen alot of pictures that I haven't quite understood and the artist only wrote "...", that doesn't help me much. There are also several pieces that at first glance haven't been that interesting to me, and then I read the artist's comment and I ended up loving the art.
People really should take advantage in writing one, since it can make a picture so much better.

idk some people are like that, they're too lazy to read anything so they ask questions that can just be answered right infront of them. sometimes people who are new wouldnt know about it, like for example i was a noob on youtube and i didnt know there was a desc box about the videos, since it had the option to extend the desc to see more so..yeah i didnt see it..
but for this on DA it clearly shows "Artist Comments" so people are just lazy or want to piss people off.

I always read the Artists comments because I usually want to know any story with the pic. But what gets me are the artist that just type
