Gee, if I had known me buying a manga to a series I thought we'd enjoy together would have made you feel so shitty years later I wouldn't have done it. =/ And I don't see why the fandom being so shitty would make you feel that way anyways, you should just like Keroro and ignore the little twats that make the fandom suck. Just enjoy the series and enjoy it with the people who aren't douches about it. Same thing with any fandom really. Besides, as you stated, because of Keroro you have made some amazing friends and that's the part you should hold onto and cherish, and just say "SCREW YOU ASSHOLES!!" to the rest.
Don't let a fandom's suckiness get you down, ever. D; It's not worth the feelings it makes you have.
