I agree that you should try some editing on these scanned pictures, maybe not Too dramatic.

Excellent composition and the shadows are great...I think it's a wonderful shot...I know you are scanning in the pics but do you do any post editing? If so, you should try some dramatic contrast and lighting, just for fun...
