DD ? Oh My GodFirstly, Thank you A looooooooot SoulFighty for suggesting my first DD
and Thank you pica-ae for featuring my first DD ...
Secondly, Wooooooooooooooow ... I really did not expect this much of disagreements, it is really surprising
anyway, I don't know how should I start but,
the idea of the design is very simple
Imagination .. is .. not .. supposed .. to .. be .. shown ..
I'm not being sarcastic or anything. in fact I'm being serious and I do know the full meaning of what I'm saying.
basically, imagination is supposed to be imagined is meant to be imagined NOT to be shown ... that's why it is called IMAGINATION...
The idea basically started after I realised that most people think that any piece of art must be based on imagination ... imagination is a small job that the brain can do .. but it is not everything the brain does ... I agree art is mostly based on the brain of the artist ... that's why I did not say "art is not supposed to be shown" ..
however, most of what you see now a days in movies, video clips, designs, even advertisements is fully based on imagination ... so what I'm trying to say to all of them is "STOP ... stop showing me my imagination and let me imagine it" .. my brain has the right to feel that it's useful .. but by showing me something that needs to be imagined you are KILLING my brain and asks it to stop working cos what you are sowing me is already doing the job for it ...
not every piece of art is based on imagination .. and imagination is not your only way of being an artiest .. I know it is one of the ways but NOT THE ONLY .. you are an artist because of whatever you do, whatever you say, whatever you think about, not because you have the ability to show us what is in your mind ...
a real piece of art makes your brain work, think, improve ..
a real piece of art doesn't stop your brain from working or makes you just say " ummm, That looks nice!"
the real artist does not express him/her self ONLY on a "piece" of art .. Art to real artists is a life style, is a way of thinking, is everything .........

A lot of things were a bit unclear with this deviation, heh but so many things got cleared up once people read the description after and thought.

Personally I think it was quite straight forward even without the description, but adding that bit did expand the meaning and reach of the piece. Now you know why some galleries and museums ask artists to give a comprehensive description of each artwork.

A lot of people did think a lot about the piece and come to a well thought out conclusion that was very worth thinking, but it still wasn't designerm's message. The messages the individuals thought up were so worthwhile that they didn't even need to know the intended message sometimes, but... knowing the original intended interpretation was really nice, and gave all us thinkers one more thing to think about.
I sure thought about this, and learned so much about artists, although I did kind of feel like it was calling me not-an-artist, just because I try to draw what's on my mind exactly. But I knew offense wasn't the intention. No harm.
I didn't know some museums required that. I've only been to art galleries in Washington D.C., and I don't recall seeing any of that here in any of the exhibits I've been to.

Yes, I love works that create good discussion.
That's why I said some. Also it's usually a requirement for art contests.
Lately I've been keen on not doing things just because, and instead developing some persistent idea of mine and display it and move people to talk about it, to think of it. Having a valid support for your creations goes a long. Because it's not about churning out pretty things, It's about things that inspire deep thought, and if you can make them aesthetically pleasing, better then.
Still, doing a little bit of mindless artworks for fun is good from time to time. And sometimes you discover new things that way, things you can apply on more serious pursuits. Thinking too much all the time even if it's good, is also tiring. We all need time to play.

What you say is true. Just remember that those people are used to not thinking, and changing habits are hard. And if they've done somewhat ok without thinking much then "why to change? it's too much of an effort and I have better things to do" (citing a certain person I know). And shiny things are good, but too many of those makes a lot of people thrillseekers instead of sitting down and comtemplating simple but nice things. But, when are there too many shiny things? That's the question. You decide for and by yourself.

two different points ... as an artists am not responsible for teaching people what's right to do or what's wrong not to do ..
am responsible for delivering my vegetables .. am not allowed to force you to eat it (like it) ...
no right or wrong about the shiny "things" ... it has its needs and use .. am not even allowed to judge it !!
