Description
Here's a chunky slice of cake for this #Nomday ! I know, I have a thing for drawing cheesecake and blueberries. I should look towards other stuff, but they look so appetizing together they woo me every time. Now, I will be looking into other types of food - probably desserts - for next week. I am open to suggestions, but please avoid cheesecake and blueberries.Related content

With mint leaves?
If I can suggest, maybe sour rye soup in a bread bowl?

Yes, that is indeed mint.
I wrote it down, sounds really interesting. By any chance a Polish / Georgian recipe? I think Georgia might have something like this in their traditional cuisine, but I'm not sure... Educate me.

From what I read, there are various versions. The soup's mostly from northern Slavic countries and Hungary. I'm not sure who got idea of bread bowls.

I've seen the bread bowls in many areas, but I have to say they seem to have a lot to do with Eastern-Europeans lately. In the Middle Ages they sometimes used bread bowls in France, as far as I know. So maybe it's a thing that migrated rather than originated in a specific place.

Well, a bread bowl was just an additional idea.

Thank you! This is not necessarily my merit, I mainly used a reference for that.

Well, we all use references, but not everyone does it with such success^^

This looks so tasty!! I absolutely love how you rendered the blueberries!Β
I'm making a strawberry shortcake for this week's dessert - anything strawberry is my suggestion! hahaΒ

Hahaha... I guess strawberries would be a welcome change. Wherever I turn it's either berries, caramel, or chocolate.

Yeah, cheese basedΒ sweets are lovely. Grandma used to make this kind of dessert (I've never heard people of other nationalities describing something similar) in which she mixed fresh cottage cheese (white cheese made of cow milk, with a rather soft texture, the kind you put in cheesecake) with sugar and egg yolk. She would make these flat cakes, the size of the palm of your hand, she would put them through a layer of flour and then fry them in a flat pan with a bit of oil. You add some sugar on top or you can add sour cream with a spoonful of fruit jam, depending on your preference, and you can make a child happier with one piece of that. I haven't eaten these in a while. Maybe the recipe I described is a bit simple, but if you are interested, you can find them online under the name 'papanas(i)'.

Like many times before I wish I could send you (and other people hanging around my gallery) cheesecake with blueberries and mint right now. Maybe I should make an event in which I invite people over on the same date and I spoil you guys with sweets.

That would be cool but I think I couldn't go anyway (because I live in France (and English isn't my native language so I have some problem to speak...)).

English isn't my native language either. I live in The Netherlands and I was born and raised in Romania. But the Dutch are nice and some speak French too, so I think you would manage. Moreover don't be afraid to make mistakes with a language you are not native in, nobody will think less of you just because of a grammar mistake you made in a foreign language. I definitely won't think less of you for that.

Ah ! Okay, I just didn't understand that "Netherland" was "Pays-Bas" in my language. Β
But it could be a little complicated for me to go there anyway. Β
