I'm getting quite tired of getting my ideas shot down in class everytime. It's extremely discouraging, especially when design is supposed to be a subjective course.. and no one offers any help. Yeah, it's all about getting rid about the bad ideas, but never enough motivation and encouragement from my tutors.... -_-Related content

I know the feeling! The design teachers always seem to be the nazi . . .est. And why? Because they attended Bauhaus?! Because they are skinny sticks with turned up noses?! Art is expression.

Tell me about it. One of my best friends is always making snide comments about a story I wrote without even having read it, and that's a friend/em>. It's even worse in the commercial world because the people you deal with a lot of times aren't even artists themselves. But then at the same time, I feel it's up to us as artists knowing all of that to be there for each other even more. Well, we're here for you at least

*gulp* Don't remind me. I've dealt with a few clients before and ugh, they can get SO annoying. Worse thing is they don't speak the design language so it's even harder to understand what they want! I'm so glad I have you peeps on DA

if it's an art class they should be open to everything... well, it's them, not you. i, for one, believe your art is really cool... what i've seen of your graphic design was really nice. keep your spirits high, they're are jerks! >:C

Well, he thinks my concept is weak. Basically, imo, he's got a one-track mind on this topic, which is weird, since they know that this topic has no absolute answer. It's not like it's science or any subject which you can refer to in books..

I think it really restricts our freedom and creativity whenever they do that. I can't help but envy the other class with the more understanding tutor who takes your idea and improves it, or try to push it to its best. Isn't that a whole lot better?!

well our professor is the type 'I already instructed you, so you do it' then she listens, and doesnt even criticize or any of that sort while I get those strange stares from my classmates.

That's unfair. If it's getting shot down, it should be getting constructive criticism so the next one is more to their tastes. If they dont like it, it's their own fault.
