Now this one is sweet!! Kinda reminded me of a marble and how the light can shine off it in the sun You can tell what I grew up with lol! This is really awesome though! I can' say much else cuz I am trying to
over here!

Thank you, thank you. I really appreciate the compliments. It's sort like a cats-eye marble, in a way.

Uh, eyepopping image! The different graphical elements work very well together and are nicely composed; even flood becomes an equal part of the composition- good work!

Thank you so much for the very nice compliment and critique. That fractal (the ball and reflective background) looked surprisingly good when I used the flood transform with it; it's just a totally improbable image, but I like its weirdness.

Thanks! This was another one of those weird fractals that doesn't really look like a fractal. I thought it was kind of cute!

Thanks! I love it when fractals look like something in real life.

Wow...this is really dramatic in full view - which is a must with this one....there are just some images where the thumb does not even beging to hint at what's inside! The orb almost reminds me of an all-seeing "eye" and I love the reflections and colors...wonderful!

Thank you so much, Anita. A few other people have noticed that eye in there, and I saw it too. It's amazing what a combination of fractal formulas, mapping transforms, and coloring methods can do! I just stumbled on this one, like I stumble on all of them, but I think this one has "legs," as they say in journalism. I'm thinking of different things I can do with these elements!

"Legs" it does have! Dn't you love it when that happens! That's what happened with "Diamond Starlight"......I was playing around with a random parameter, made some changes and all of a sudden the stars popped in! I was so surprised!

I love that flood transform...it works with all of the fractal formulas. I am going to try a few other things and see what happens with that.

I think it's great. I see an eye too.
Perhaps it would be even better if the background was softer (blurred) so that it would give a sense of depth.

desmo100 In reply to AlteredIdentity [2006-11-13 23:24:36 +0000 UTC]
I agree with you about the background, but unfortunately, I couldn't get the fractal formula to cooperate! I must have experimented with about 50 different iterations of this same formula with changing parameters, but never got that soft background. If I were doing digital art by hand, I would make it look soft. Fractals certainly have limitations, esp. when you're an amateur like me!

Thanks, Jenn. I've got it down "sort of." I've tried so many experiments that fell on their faces! I never give up, because it's like pannng for gold...you never know what you might find in the next session. It's fun to get something interesting like this, though.

You're very right about that, Nance. I couldn't think about why I named it what I did, but now that you mention Cirque, it makes sense. I've seen them use huge balls in their acts. They are quite wonderful.

Thank you, Lauren. Would you believe that's a Christmas-themed gradient I dreamed up? It's not at all Christmas-y, but it's interesting for a lot of other types of renders. Once in awhile, a goof turns out to be something nice after all! Glad you like.
