Thank you very much. I thought you might like this. So many people are posting winter themes, and we still have colorful leaves on the trees. So I had to dig into last year's material. I had a great day taking photos when I took this shot. Got a bunch of good ones by the creek, tool

I don't like driving in it either, but I've been known to take calculated risks where there are some good pictures to be had. I remember when I used to have to drive to work in the snow, and it was just awful. Taking the bus was worse, as it was always late. I am so glad to be retired!

thankfully i am only 15 miles from work, but its not the greatest plowed of all roads i have to take, actually the one part of it is terrible and the other part of it(its got a really screwed up intersection where it turns left and then right but its the same damn road) that part is always great.

Still, 15 miles is a pretty long trip to make in lousy weather. I've always tried to live near my jobs so that I could take the bus. For the first several years of my working life, I didn't have a car--had to rely on friends or family to get rides. Not fun at all. I worked in D.C. for the most part, so the bus was the best way. Then they built the subway! Wow, what a nice difference that made. Didn't need a car after that..

yeah its hard having to drive in that crap but for 5 yrs i went to college an hr from where i live and commuted and drove through some nasty stuff. I don't worry about me though, i worry about everyone else on the roads.

Yeah, you're right about that. I've been in some dicey situations where the other people were sliding into me. Luckily there were no injuries.

Hah! Fat chance. Those SUVs are more dangerous than regular autos on the road. They tip over regularly. They're really trucks, with a little outside trim.

Anticipating snow now are you, we've had some just this morning, would you like it? Beautiful picture.

Thank you. I like snow in reasonable amounts. Hate blizzards, but we don't get many of those. I'm looking forward to a pretty snow...the kind that makes everything look like magic--but doesn't kill you while shoveling out!

Thats what tractors with plows are for, we've had a couple dumps, it was really pretty here this morning.

We have a small yard, steps, and narrow walkways. A snow blower wouldn't really work for us, so we still have to do it by hand. Ugh. The county government plows the streets, luckily.

I'm on an orchard, tractors galore so my brother does most of the plowing.

Hey, that's really handy! What kind of orchard do you have? Fruits or nuts?

Katjakay In reply to desmo100 [2005-12-01 06:49:38 +0000 UTC]

Fruit, mainly apples, but some cherries and a few grapes, apricots, prunes, plums, peaches and necterines.

Oh my, that sounds SO delicious! I would love to have an orchard or live near one. There's nothing better in this world that fresh fruit, just picked. My grandma had apples, peaches and pears in her yard; also, a grape arbor. She had such a green thumb. One year, the peaches were so fat and numerous, their weight broke some of the branches. Needless to say, we ate all of those! YUM!

Peach trees are kind of brittle, they do tend to break on a good year, my weakness is cherries I won't eat the fruit while picking but will gorge on them later.
