Intoxicating and overwhelming... that urge to draw.Having never been a smoker, I've struggled to understand why someone would want to pick it up. While talking with an old friend who had started the habit again after quitting for a year, he explained it to me "It's like having you own window of time; a box which you know will be filled up only with this, nothing else, your mind can wander anywhere. You hold a small corner of the world to just yourself for those few minutes"
His words surprised me, that's just how I feel whilst drawing. It's my own little space I have to to myself, where I can let my mind wander, relieve my stress, and not worry about anything else. And believe me, if I am not able to do it I get grumpy! XD Like it's my addiction. I'd never thought of it that way before...
This is in no way an avocation of starting smoking though
The friend has since quit again and I'm very proud of him. I think my drawing addiction will be harder to kick, so I medicate with daily doses of doodling, and new sketchbook monthly, seems to do the trick 
Was having some serious urges after traveling so much I could fit barely any drawing in, can you believe it's been a month since I posted there?! Gosh, thanks for sticking around, you're great guys
So I drew this in remembrance for the month I gave up my addiction for Not too happy with the face, but I've got to get back into practice Peace, love and healthy addictions,

I recently started up e-cigs myself, and honestly, I get it. For me personally its like deep breathing excercises but more intense. I could compare it to how my art makes me feel, calm and alone. This is a must for me as I am an extreme introvert. Also not advocating the use of cigarettes: I only use it to help me cope with anxiety. Anyway I love this piece and your art has inspired me over the last 2-4 years, thank you so much!

I don't know if I already made a comment but, this is one of my top favorite artworks you have done, because this is basically my whole life in a nutshell, the urge to draw and can't stop to the point it's intoxicating, and the other meaning I get from it, is you draw so much to the point the pencil starts smoking from to much use. This artwork is just incredible.

Once there was a little girl called Clarissa, she was ten-years-old and she lived in a mental hospital, because she killed her mom and her dad. She got so bad she went to kill all the staff in the hospital so the More-government decided that best idea was to get rid of her so they set up aSPECIALROOM to kill her, as humane as possible but it went wrong the machine they were using went wrong. And she sat there in agony for hours until she died.
Now every week on the day of her death she returns to the person that reads this letter, on a monday night at 12:00a.m. She creeps into your room and kills you slowly, by cutting you and watching you bleed to death.

An addiction of any kind is easy to start and difficult to stop. Having a father and two older brothers who smoked cigarettes made me think about it. I knew I was going to smoke, but looked at an alternative. There was an uncle who smoked pipes and his home always smelled pleasant. So I took up the pipe and enjoyed it. But two seizures two years ago put a halt to that vice. I still miss it, not so much for the taste of the tobacco, but the very act of handling the pipe. With you, Blue, its the act of drawing and coloring that is your addiction. However, your addiction is far better than mine and your friends, and is not such a threat to your health. So keep drawing and don't try to kick it.

How is it that you get better and better? lol Very impressive work. I wonder why smoke coming from the pencil only connecting to one eye. Is it saying that once you start having those creative juices flowing you start seeing almost everything as a inspiration to keep bringing up that habit? Sorry, for over analyzing.

it is a picture, and a great one, the addicted to art theme is as great to enjoy, as the habit i'm not keen on which you mention in your description, smoking, it's quite the opposite opinion in my case, at least it looks like you drew a very good picture, i like this addiction the most. (more than cigarettes, if you know what i mean.)

Amazing work at always, love it! I totally understand! Drawing is like weed to me, it relieves me of my stress and rarely do I every have a day in which I'm not drawing. Art is like the air I breathe, it's my utopia, my place of solace, clarity, and where I can unleash my imagination without rules or boundaries. Highly addictive and hard to quit. Nicely done.
