Intoxicating and overwhelming... that urge to draw.Having never been a smoker, I've struggled to understand why someone would want to pick it up. While talking with an old friend who had started the habit again after quitting for a year, he explained it to me "It's like having you own window of time; a box which you know will be filled up only with this, nothing else, your mind can wander anywhere. You hold a small corner of the world to just yourself for those few minutes"
His words surprised me, that's just how I feel whilst drawing. It's my own little space I have to to myself, where I can let my mind wander, relieve my stress, and not worry about anything else. And believe me, if I am not able to do it I get grumpy! XD Like it's my addiction. I'd never thought of it that way before...
This is in no way an avocation of starting smoking though
The friend has since quit again and I'm very proud of him. I think my drawing addiction will be harder to kick, so I medicate with daily doses of doodling, and new sketchbook monthly, seems to do the trick 
Was having some serious urges after traveling so much I could fit barely any drawing in, can you believe it's been a month since I posted there?! Gosh, thanks for sticking around, you're great guys
So I drew this in remembrance for the month I gave up my addiction for Not too happy with the face, but I've got to get back into practice Peace, love and healthy addictions,

i love music too, like drawing, composing is all my thought on paper in a genre tempo melody and things like that i know it is hard to quit and i never will.

The comparison to smoking is interesting, I can kinda understand why people would do it (thought I'll never understand what draws people to it to begin with).
But not all addictions are bad! I don't think a drawing addiction has a negative impact on you and the people around you, so please don't quit!

OMG i understand that urge im like in a resteraunt and i ask the waitor or waitress for his or her pen and paper and i draw then i give it to the resteraunt after im done i always tell them '' Keep that that's going to be worth big money some day " but i self pleasure draw more than being request to draw

I really like your style of digital painting. I want to say something other than I just love it but it's very beautiful in a way I can't describe well... But what you say about drawing and illustration here, it really hits the mark. I've always liked to draw but I never reallu used it to flex my creative muscle until the recent few years, and it is such a cathartic escape, that now I think my life really would be incomplete if I wasn't able to do it. Please keep up the good work, because your art really is excellent and I hope you go far with it.

You know what? You've made me realize something. Im not expressing my feelings by painting/drawing. I can't play with painting. I'm so afraid I'll mess up the painting, that I don't experiment with it. Maybe it's because one time I've drawn, I think, my most beautiful digital painting and destroyed it by clicking a few options (and I couldn't undo it). I cried after that, it meant a lot for me. I think maybe this is my drawing trauma (however stupid it sounds). I want to draw perfectly and don't allow myself to draw half-perfectly. I'm a total perfectionist when it comes to drawing/painting. Maybe that's why I don't like painting with watercolour paints, I don't know how and everytime I try, it turns out just horrible ;-;
People say I've got talent but if I can't express my feelings by drawing, and I do it mechanically, and when sometimes I'm feeling so self-consious... I shouldn't be so afraid of doing it wrong...
What I'm trying to say is I would be really, really happy if you could explain it to me. How you started, how your style's changed through time - from anime to more realistic, yet not realistic. How do you feel while drawing.

My addiction is pretty serious. I hands actually start shaking and twitching if i can't draw so i started making Sketchbooks(I sell the extras) so I always have something to draw in.

In my opinion, Drawing is better than any drug. More beautiful and personal than any other addiction. Healthier, too. If anyone's going to die from drawing, It'll be me.

This is powerful. If you had one like this with the flow coming out of the head instead it would be exactly what it feels like when writing something that becomes an obsession for the writer. I feel like that sometimes when I have something in my head and I can't quite put it to words.
