Well this is sort of a "get better" present for who got her cornea cut the other day. It seems very painful and has an effect on vision, but from what I here, she's recovering fairly well.Anyways, this is her main OC, Max, a ghost (actually, sort of a human/ ghost hybrid à la Danny Phantom). Since it wasn't my OC, I wanted a bit more "artsy" with this pic, like adding the blue glow and such. I wanted the background to be very clipart like so I looked up a bunch of clipart reference. Thought it would be sort of interesting as opposed to some of my other backgrounds.

On a bit of a side note, found out there was this competition for a ghost artbook the other day and I found out the day it ended OTL. I think I would have had a good shot at entering it. Oh well I guess. At any rate, I've decided that I must get published in an artbook someday! I need to make it happen somehow. XD
Anyways, here's wishing Silver a speedy recovery. Hope this drawing of her OC can help cheer her up, even by a little.

The BG is really good in this, screams classic Halloween. I like how it got sort of distorted around the area the ghost is.

Haha, glad you noticed that detail! I wanted to make it look as if the spirit substance distorted light since it's transparent, but also to convey that there's mass there.

Oh wow! This is fantastic! The pose, expression and colors are all amazing, especially the blue glow mixed with the transparency and the building/clipart silhouettes in the background! Nice job here! I bet she'll love this!

Thanks man! Yeah, I had a real fun time making the pose. I personally really like the way the face came out too (especially the eyes). Haha, yeah, since it wasn't any of my OCs (who I obviously don't apply the glow effect to), I thought it would be fun to experiment with the idea. I thought the clipart would give it a very "greeting card" kind of feel to it and that's exactly what I wanted!

Haha, thanks, looks like that's what I get for stepping out of my "boundaries". XD I know I don't add those glowing lines to any of my OCs (just because it would be a real pain to reproduce that a lot of times if I ever did a comic, plus I like the effect without the glow too). Other than that, I wanted this to be saturated with colour and look more "artsy" than the way I normally do things. One thing I think I conveyed better this time as opposed to my OCs is that this looks like there's a bit more substance/ three dimensionality to him.
If only I could have gotten this in to that competition. XD
I guess I need to learn to break my own boundaries more often. Just looking at past pieces that have done that, it seems that's how I tend to improve more.

I think that's what art classes are so nice. The teacher makes you step out of your boundaries and makes you try new things. I've just gotten into the habit of doing that whenever I'm in a class. No Transformers or things I like to draw.

Yeah, I totally know what you mean. I remember that being the case back when I had art classes in highschool. Don't get me wrong, I love to draw the things of interest, but I love doing stuff that I just wouldn't naturally do to. We got to do things like life drawings (minus the nudity LOL), silk screening, various paint mediums and a bunch of other cool things. That's one major reason I resent my University for not letting me take an art class. Heck, I don't even care about getting a credit, I'd just like to do one to sharpen some of my skills/ taking a challenge.

All sorts of cool stuff! Like what shutter speed not to go past to make sure the picture is not blurry. How light can affect a photo and how we can edit them in certain ways in photoshop. HDR is something really cool. I also learned that my room mates are camera shy and don't make very good models lool

I have no idea what HDR stands for but I do know what it's used for! It's pretty much a setting in PS where you put a camera on the tripod and take a lot of pictures (we did 7 total) at different exposures. You have to set up the tripod normally inside and have it look outside so you get all sorts of bad exposure. Either the darks are too dark and the brights are too bright. So with all those pictures you put then into PS and using the special HDR settings you can make all those pictures make a perfectly exposed picture. An example of one is my "Forest" picture but I messed around with the setting too much and thus made it look weird lol.
That's pretty much are they act lool. One locks her door at night so I can't sneak in there when she's sleeping and take photos of her then. I have actually considered this as she can sleep through anything and I'm sure she wouldn't notice the flash lol.
