Description Well this is a little thank you gift to for being a tremendous help the other day. Because of her, I can now own a Classics Devastator, a figure I've been wanting for year (though I REALLY want TFC Hercules now, but who can affor that?).

Anyways, she wanted the two Rescue Bots Chase and Blades. Ironic that she asked for these guys since she came to my rescue. LOL I actually watched a bit of the show for reference, and I have to say, it's not as bad as I thought it would be, but it's still not my thing, though I really like Chase's personality (especially the bit about his name being classified). He's what a Prowl should be. The only thing I don't understand is why the show has to be linked with Prime. I'd just prefer the two to be separate entities.

I originally just drew these guys' heads, but they just looked too plain an boring so I sort of made them into "busts" to make them a bit more intriguing. Still not all too happy with Blades (not sure if I hate the eyes or face in general more), but I may redo his face at some point. I do however really like how Chase turned out, I could imagine him running Autoboot camp on Cybertron.

It was nice to return to the pen tool and photoshop. It seems like it's been a while since I've used the two. Actually it's been a while since I've drawn a TF, so it was nice to produce some TF art for once.

Well, I never watched TFA, but its style always struck me as, of all things, too cartoony, and too smooth and rounded. Just its animation style, right? RB has a similar style, but offsets it by giving some of the bots and devices really boxy designs. Your picture didn't discard a boxy appearance on a normally boxy character the way TFA did to Prime; you preserved the sort of squareness that Chase has about him, and actually used it for characterization. It was a nice compromise with the show's style and TFA style, and provided a sort of smoothness and "realistic" feeling that RB's boxy robots often lack, especially about the face. I wonder if expressive faces are the main reason fans like TFA style, now that I think of it.Β

First of all, sorry for the late reply. XD

Hehe, I'm actually a lover of the TFA style, I just love how expressive every line is and how characterful every character is. XD If you look closely, you'll actually notice they have a lot of details. Hehe yeah had to preserve that squareness,Β especially since the Rescue Bots have such odd mouth shapes. XD Really I just tried to envision how they would look if they stepped into the TFA universe. And yeah, that's the thing I love about TFA, all the expressiveness. It's sad that in TFP, a lot of characters lacked that expressiveness. I just recently bought the TFP artbook and all the concept head sketches for the characters had these really expressive expressions, it's a shame it didn't translate into CGI.

Detail and expression are upsides to TFA style. I Just felt they seemed too organic. I still hold a lot of bitterness over Beast Machines, LOL.

Awesome work! I've gotten into Rescue Bots recently and it's surprising a pretty good show. The fact that it's written by Nicole Dubus (also one of the writers of Transformers Prime) gives the show quality.

No worries. I'm mostly doing revisions on Rescue Bots until season 3 of Prime starts production. Though I did get to do some storyboarding on a couple episodes of RB... they won't air for some time, I'm sure.

it usually takes a year or so to do a season of a show. Season 2 is the first one I really did work on. I actually did some storyboarding on episode three (or internally known as 203). Season 2 is going to be great, if I do say so myself. An I can't wait for that Season 1 blu-ray.... finally get to see it in HD.
