Description Just a little experiment, it's my first shot at this adding a sky onto a render, so any tips would be great.

The sky is from Mayang.com

There are overlays. It's really all in the lighting.

Hell, may I ask you how you get those textures in the terrain!? I tried using a bitmap..but the damn render doesn't show the texture i aplyed.. I tryed SO Image overlay...doens't seem to work thouh..
about this sky..light source is correct. hits the clouds from the right direction..but not with streanght enough.. i think it culd be a bit more bright.

It's done using the SOPack. I would suggest making it the main layer on the surface first to see if it's appearing. If it's not, you probably have a tiling issue. You have to set the height and the length/width settings.

No worries, sky truly fits perfectly

I like textures very much. This is very moody landscape, the atmosphere here is great .

No shadows cast by clouds, but I think you have plenty of notes for that Great texture there, very nice indeed.

I can definitely tell the sky is real, but I guess if you look hard enough and realize the limitations of TG, then you'll realize its fake in a few seconds. But I'm gonna say you did a damn good job of blending it and having people have to think whether or not its real or not. So I commend you for that. Great job, beautiful sky (in the dark kinda sense).

I actually desaturated it a bit to get the sky to blend into the coloring of the ground.

Hmmm. Okay. First, this looks wonderful. It is, however, just a faint bit surreal. The clouds cast no shadows. The only fixes I can think of require rendering with clouds roughly as persistant that cast shadows, masking that sky out and screening in the one you want to replace it with. Alternatively, you could try to add shadows with transparent black masking roughly approximating the cloud footprints, adjusted for the angle of the sun. Another thing to watch out for, if you are doing more exotic skies post is to render with a test sky with the same colors and hues so that the radiosity matches your replacement sky--especially important, watch out for day renders and night skies!
