For this contest entry I entered sometime ago, I decided to draw out something from a cast meme fo hers based on a movie that I did watch at some point, but haven't gotten back into it until years later. That film is Gulliver's Travels, directed by Max Fleisher(Betty Boom, Popeye) released in 1939. It was also marketed as the 2nd animated film in history.

So, Fleisher, known for the wacky shenanigans of his cartoons was asked to do a more "Disney approach" with Gulliver's Travels so that way the company could compete against Disney as Snow White made a landmark in history as the first animated movie of all time.

In their take on Gulliver's Travels, Gulliver does arrive on Lilliput, but the main conflict is that King Little is at war with his friend King Bombo over what song should they sing at Prince David(Bombo's son) and Princess Glory(Little's daughter)'s wedding. Gulliver decides to help King Little defend his land, but he also finds Glory and David in their secret relationship and decides to help them stop the war between their two fathers.

Of course I haven't read the book, but I did see the Jack Black film as despite it's modern setting, it DOES hold elements of the book.

Other than that, I had a lot of fun experimenting with this one so I decided to do the scene where Gulliver reunites Glory and David. As the two of them kiss and embrace, Gulliver decides to come up with a plan for the two stubborn fathers.

So, Gulliver, like Snow White was done in rotoscope which was like tracing a human as they modeled. To differentiate that from the world of Lilliput, I decided Howl was going to be drawn on paper while everything was drawn on the Procreate. It was a lot of fun to do that.

Also, Gulliver's Travels you can find ANYWHERE as it's in the public domain, so you check it on Youtube or you can rent it from the library.
