I wanted to do this meme for a while as Strange Magic is one of my favorite underrated movies and I've been in a Strange Magic mood lately. I know a lot of people hate it because it's too cliche, the musical numbers are annoying, the characters are bland, etc. Personally, I don't mind the movie at all because the characters are fun to watch, I don't mind some of the musical numbers(though I don't mind if they cut I Wanna Dance with Somebody and Say Hey), the relationship with Bog King/Marianne is very sweet though I wished that they made their romance last the Disney Princess route(3 days-1 year) that way the writers could write their chemistry because they had GREAT chemistry and they're so sweet together and I like the fact taht they took the love potion trope and used an ingredient to cure it that's not cheap.

Other than that, I really enjoy this film a lot and I love watching it ever since I got it for my graduation present.

Also the Beauty and the Beast elements in this story is what also intrigues me a lot of this movie considering that again, I ship Bog/Marianne.

I would also like to thank Jamison1209 for helping me a bit with this and I also like to thank her for letting me use her OC for this meme. Granted, for the dark creatures, I wanted to use the Skesis and what better way than to ask The Dark Crystal expert herself. So, I had to rewatch the Dark Crystal again as well as watch some clips up on Youtube.

*So for this AU, it would have a Dark Crystal touch as in this take the goblins are the Skesis and the fairies and elves are humans. In it, the SkekSis are their own species in this universe instead of being half of the UrSkeks separated from the Crystal.
*Also in this version, instead of it being for one day and fifteen minutes, the romance happens within four days to push the Beauty and the Beast relationship further and develop the characters more.
*Also to keep the Skesis in character, some of their "goblin" roles would be toned down so they can stay in character. Yes, that dinner scene is there. XD
*The songs I Wanna Dance With Somebody, Say Hey, Mistreated, and Straight On would be cut and replaced with some dialogue to keep the SkeSis in character. So, the part where SkekSil(as Bog) gives his demands, it'll be more on how Maleficent/Cassandra crashed the party.

So here's my cast for Strange Magic.

Princess Marianne-Jamison aka Jamie(Jamison1209 's OC)-I personally like Marianne as one of my favorite heroines as she's strong-powered and yet while she does fall for Bog, she enters into a relationshp with someone who appreciates her for strong power as well as her beauty. Not to mention that she CAN throw a punch when she wants to and is willing to stand up for what is right, even if it means dealing with her ex-boyfriend Roland's pungent plans to marry her to have an army of his own. Plus again, Marianne is tough, but she does care for those around her. During my interactions with my friend, I can see a lot of strong power in her, despite her own awkwardness at times which is what I think she puts into her own character. Jamieson is also a strong character who is willing to stand up to others and sees the good in almost everyone even to those like the Skesis. I also like how I can picture Jamie's relationship with Chamberlain a lot like Bog King and Marianne.

The Bog King-SkeSil the Chamberlain(The Dark Crystal)-While yes, it's a odd choice for a character who wasn't even evil in the first place, but personally, I think that Chamberlain is one of the few who I think could've been redeemed. That and also because I'm a shipper for SkekSil/Jamieson. Before his reveal that he was just a lonely dude who needed to talk to someone who went through the same experience he did, the Bog King was set up to be the antagonist(well, secondary as Roland is obviously the main antagonist), the type of cunning, manipulative, and cruel ruler of the Dark Forest who wnated to destroy every primrose petal so there will be no love potions...and no love at all. He even showed at first to have a hatred for fairies and elves as he views them as ugly beings and annoying(case in point...Dawn's singing). Chamberlain, while we never see him fully redeem as he was killed and merged with his Ursu self, I believe that the reason the way he is like that is because he, like every Skesis fears death and also is looked down upon by his fellow Skesis for being such a wuss and he also he thinks of himself as weak, but would rather pin the blame on others for his own misdeeds. What he lacks in strength, he makes up for in brains and pragmatism, but he CAN get into combat when needed. The worst thing Bog did was pour the love potion on his shallow ex-crush and he lived to regret it. Personally, I think SkeSil deep down wanted the crystal to be healed or something. In this AU, he's a lot more criminal before he met and fell in love with Jamie, but Jamie didn't earn his trust until he showed her more kindness and both opening up to each other.

Princess Dawn-Leni Loud(The Loud House)-Dawn was probably a little tricky at first, but then I was flicking through the channels and I was watching The Loud House. Leni comes on screen and immediately I start remembering WHY she's my favorite character in the show. Leni, like Dawn is very kind, looks up to her big sister(Marianne/Lori) and has a penchant for most teenage things like boys(and also in Leni's case, fashion). Her major flaw is her naivety when it comes to the world around her which can sometimes have her head up in the clouds for too long. And also be annoying to their siblings with their incessant trademarks(singing and being a total airhead as a whole). However, nevertheless, I could see Leni being a good sister figure to Jamie in this AU and she could even have her trademark fashion stuff as well. That...and I can imagine her singing Sugar Pie Honey Bunch and being all touchy-feely under the love potion.

Roland-Kevin(Steven Universe)-I had this in mind for a while because I haven't had Kevin in an antagonistic role before. It also helps that he's a perverted, arrogant and smug asshole who is willing to crush those to get what he wants. Ever since his debut, it was no secret to why he is one of my most despised characters on Steven Universe as he won't take no for an answer from Stevonnie(not even knowing or caring that it's two kids fused together throughg Crystal Gem Magic). Just like how I saw Roland, who is basically Gaston's wimpy fairy counterpart, but he DOES have his own way of being a perverted smug, arrogant and smug asshole even despite all that. Oh, yeah, and I'm also onto the hairthing. In this AU, he would be more manipualtive than how Roland was, though it would be funny to hear Kevin trying to win back Jamie by singing "Come on, Marianne."

Griselda(The Bog King's Mom)-Aughra (The Dark Crystal)-Okay, I know that she is basically one of the enemies of the Skesis, but Jamieson suggested for me to use her and...it took me a while. Griselda may be a cranky old goblin, but she does care for those who get to know her. I also can tolerate her becuase she doesn't judge anybody by appearences and rather based on character which is something that most parent-in-laws should look for in their childrens' spouses. And it was nice that she bonded a bit with Marianne when she met her. I had to watch a few clips for Aughra, but while she was a cranky old goblin, but she told off those Skesis like a mother to a bunch of a bratty kids. She also is quite motherly towards Jem and Kira when htey come to her aid during their journey. And she used to be friends with the Skesis when they were stll the UrsKeks before they abused ther power. Just think in this AU, she acts as more of an motherly figure to Skesis and is more of an adviser to him rather than a mom as she took him in.

Sugar Plum Fairy-Rosetta(Tinker Bell series)-Two words: KRISTEN.CHENOWETH. I'm not kidding. The Sugar Plum Fairy is a bit prissy, elegant, flamboyant and a little bit stir crazy, but she does provide enough wisdom and kindness to give the secret of the love potion for those who bring a primrose petal and some kindess back. I also like how Sugarplum tends to be kind of obstificating stupidity in order for Bog and Marianne to figure out for themselves the antidote for the love potion while also telling Bog's past. When I remembered the Tinker Bell series, I remembered Rosetta being a bit prissy, elegant and a bit vain, but she still is a kindhearted soul who is willing to help out her friends in need. It also helps that her color motif is like the primrose petal. I also found out that before Megan Hilty voiced her, Kristen Chenoweth voiced Rosetta too, so it's kind of a voice actress reference(and the third time Kristen has voiced a fairy character).

King Dagda(aka the Fairy King)-The King(The Cat that Looked at a King)-Probably one of the most underrated and overlooked Disney shorts I have ever seen. Probably could've been a sequence in Mary Poppins Returns or something. So, the King in this short(credited as King Cole and voiced by the late David Odgen Steirs) is a bumbling, yet concieded and arrogant king who is obsessed with knowledge. To a point where he disregards his wife's needs. A cat(who I'm going to name Maizie) appears and he and make a bet: he and Maizie must answer three questions. If Maizie wins, she gets the kingdom, but if the king wins, the cat is to be the king's servant. Who wins the bet? FInd out, but while the king does care for his wife, he is too consumed with knowledge to even ask her what she wants. It also could be applied to King Dagda who is too consumed with appearences of a man for his daughters that he doesn't see the man's true colors hence why it took him til the END OF THE MOVIE to realize Roland was a douchebag in the first place. That and he too can be a bit conceieded and bumbling as well. I also wanted to use an underrated Disney King who wasn't too loving nor too much of a asshole.

Sunny-Chaz(The Loud House)-Again with Sunny, it was tricky, but when I casted Leni as Dawn, I had to cast Chaz as I'm actually pissed when I found out that these two broke up recently. I also like how these two are such close friends even before they started dating and it shows that Leni isn't that shallow when it comes to guys. And even before he started dating her, Sunny was the best friend of Dawn, but he secretly has a crush on her. Personally even if he weren't manipulated by Roland into getting the love potion, I believe that Sunny would've had the chance to confess to Dawn how much he loves her and is willing to support her chance of being with someone even if it wasn't him. So, yes, I forgive Sunny for all the trouble he went through. And he and Dawn are cute together. I could see their relationship like Leni and Chaz's. If Chaz spoke more, I headcanon that his voice would be more on the line of Moxxie as both are voiced by Richard Steven Horvitz.

Stuff-SkekNa(The Dark Crystal)-Stuff was basically like the second in command to the Bog King, even if he was just as bumbling as Thang, so no wonder Bog has to put up with him. Stuff's character isn't really explored, but I believe that he holds a contemptment towards fairies and has to put up with most of the punishment Bog gives him when Bog loses his temper from Stuff screwing up at times. I also saw him as the goblin that was in charge of the prisoners and even tortured them on a daily basis at times. Then when Jamie suggested SkekNa, I was hesitant because SkekNa was sadistic and he is ruthless. He also holds contemptment for the Chamberlain for being above him and also for Gelfings as he finds them to be like vermin. He also happens to be a slave driver and is in charge of the prisoners which would also make sense for his character. In this version, while he is less of a bumbling idiot, he DOES still mix up the messages which confuses SkekSil.

Thang-SkekAyuk (The Dark Crystal)-It's easy to see that Skeksis range from inelligent to stupid depending on the type of Skesis you come across. For goblins, it's no wonder Bog has to put up wth them. So, while Thang's character isn't really explored upon as s/he(as revealed that he's a girl), I could headcanon that he's probably the gluttonous one, but also the one who also cooked up the meal for Bog and Marianne while Stuff did the decorating. So, then Jamie suggested I would use SkekAyuk as Thang. I could see him cowering before SkekSis and even cooking the food while the other SkeSis are telling him not to pig out on it considering how much he likes to eat.

Brutus-SkekZok(The Dark Crystal)-Brutus is one of the big goblins from what I remember about him...and his name is only mentioned when he tried to lick the bag Dawn was in when Bog stopped him from doing so. Then he only appears to be covering his ears from hearing Dawn's annoying singing. SkekZok was another choice Jamie suggested for him which I was curious about and how I was going to work him into this role. I was thinking like he'd have a bigger role in whwich he would try to take a taste of human essence and he would try to please SkeSis despite his own hatred for him and I could even see him attempt to bend some of the rules to fit his own agenda. Even if it means thinking of performing some of the rituals without SkeSis's approval. However, like his role, I can see him getting the bag Leni is in and try to schedule a ritual to sacrifice her before SkeSis refuses as he rather have the bag opened with the victim alive.

Pare-Soos(Gravity Falls)-I personally hated how Pare was underused in the movie. He only serves as a companion to help Sunny in his quest to retrieve the love potion back from the Imp, is mostly a silent character, is seen as a good friend to Sunny despite the fact he was chosen for the quest and is forgiving towards the Imp after they retrieve the potion. Personally, if the movie were written better, Pare would've been Sunny's other best friend other than Dawn and the voice of reason for him despite his own dimness. This is why I have Soos in mind. Despite Soos being a bit dim as a brick, he still has some common sense to know of the realities of what's going on around him and he's a great companion to Wendy, Dipper and Mabel in helping them through their summer adventure. Plus the dude doesn't really hold too much of a grudge against them when they went back in time to figure out why he hated his birthday. I also have a headcanon right now of Chaz and Soos being BFFs.

Roland's Fairy Cronies-Ronaldo(Steven Universe), Scott(Total Drama Island) and Brett and Chett(The Lorax 2012)-These three guys take on the "Lefou" role where they kiss up to Roland and even try to help him in his quest to marry Marianne and become king so he can have an army. THese three guys even mock about Roland behind his back and are implied to be abused by him as well. Then I had to think of three guys who were willing to kiss up to Kevin. While Ronaldo hated Kevin as well as the next person, I also thought he also looked up to him and even was scared to even come face to face with him at times. Then for Scott, yes he was the big bad of Total Drama: Revenge of the Island, but he wasn't like as handsome or manipulative as Alejandro or Heather were in the other seasons so I can see him trying to idiolize a bigger person in charge. And Bret and Chett are there because they're probably the dimmest twins of the bunch and probably think of Kevin as their hero. Yeah, out of the four of them, Scott would probably the smartest one of the bunch.

The Imp-Stitch(Lilo and Stitch)-Hear me out. Not only does this little rat actually look like Stitch in a way(again only with white fur and a elgonated snout and a mouse tail) and also acts like him too. The Imp for whatever the fuck reason, spreads the love potion around like crazy, making various crazy couples fall in love. Though after some negotiation from Sunny and Pare, the Imp surrenders the potion and even joins in helping them get to Roland to atone for his actions, but that's not without him being mischieveious still. Then, that's when I remembered Stitch who also likes to make a lot of mischief that would end up causing more problems than solving them. However, he always come around in the end...and he's looking cute while doing so.

Plum Elf-Don(Total Drama: The Ridonculous Race)-Plum was probably the hardest character to pick cause he only had one line or two and he was only a minor character at best. If I had to pick out what his job was in the movie, I think he was the leader of the elves hence why he was kind of the boss who is fair, but has his own set of rules to follow. I went with Don because wunlike Chris who is a total dick, Don is a fair host and tries to make sure those are following the rules, despite being as sarcastic as he can. So, I can see him be the head of the poor class of the human society.

Angry Gus-SkekVar(The Dark Crystal)-Angry Gus was probably another minor role in the movie, but if I had a headcanon about him, I think he would be Bog King's general in command and would be in charage of guarding the Dark Forest. He also has some brute force within him too. However, despite this, he can be a bit sensitive as he was hurt when Roland called him ugly and naked and tried to cover himself with a leaf. This was a very tricky role I will have to admit. This is where SkekVar would come in where he too is the general in charge of the Skeksis and is the ambassador/general to SkekSil. I know basically they are technically enemies after the whole ordeal with SkekSil trying to become the new Skeksis emperor, personally he does tend to respect SkekSil for his cunning ways and his posistion in power as well as thanking him for saving him from Tarva. He also has some sensitivity in his feelings and doubts his question in battle and combats.I could also see him being the first SkekSis that Jamie would come across in the Dark Forest when she stumbles upon it.

Stuff's character isn't really explored, but I believe that he holds a contemptment towards fairies and has to put up with most of the punishment Bog gives him when Bog loses his temper from Stuff screwing up at times. I also saw him as the goblin that was in charge of the prisoners and even tortured them on a daily basis at times. Then when Jamie suggested SkekNa, I was hesitant because SkekNa was sadistic and he is ruthless. He also holds contemptment for the Chamberlain for being above him and also for Gelfings as he finds them to be like vermin. He also happens to be a slave driver and is in charge of the prisoners which would also make sense for his character. In this version, while he is less of a bumbling idiot, he DOES still mix up the messages which confuses SkekSil.

Thang-SkekAyuk (The Dark Crystal)-It's easy to see that Skeksis range from inelligent to stupid depending on the type of Skesis you come across. For goblins, it's no wonder Bog has to put up wth them. So, while Thang's character isn't really explored upon as s/he(as revealed that he's a girl), I could headcanon that he's probably the gluttonous one, but also the one who also cooked up the meal for Bog and Marianne while Stuff did the decorating. So, then Jamie suggested I would use SkekAyuk as Thang. I could see him cowering before SkekSis and even cooking the food while the other SkeSis are telling him not to pig out on it considering how much he likes to eat.

Brutus-SkekZok(The Dark Crystal)-Brutus is one of the big goblins from what I remember about him...and his name is only mentioned when he tried to lick the bag Dawn was in when Bog stopped him from doing so. Then he only appears to be covering his ears from hearing Dawn's annoying singing. SkekZok was another choice Jamie suggested for him which I was curious about and how I was going to work him into this role. I was thinking like he'd have a bigger role in whwich he would try to take a taste of human essence and he would try to please SkeSis despite his own hatred for him and I could even see him attempt to bend some of the rules to fit his own agenda. Even if it means thinking of performing some of the rituals without SkeSis's approval. However, like his role, I can see him getting the bag Leni is in and try to schedule a ritual to sacrifice her before SkeSis refuses as he rather have the bag opened with the victim alive.

Pare-Soos(Gravity Falls)-I personally hated how Pare was underused in the movie. He only serves as a companion to help Sunny in his quest to retrieve the love potion back from the Imp, is mostly a silent character, is seen as a good friend to Sunny despite the fact he was chosen for the quest and is forgiving towards the Imp after they retrieve the potion. Personally, if the movie were written better, Pare would've been Sunny's other best friend other than Dawn and the voice of reason for him despite his own dimness. This is why I have Soos in mind. Despite Soos being a bit dim as a brick, he still has some common sense to know of the realities of what's going on around him and he's a great companion to Wendy, Dipper and Mabel in helping them through their summer adventure. Plus the dude doesn't really hold too much of a grudge against them when they went back in time to figure out why he hated his birthday. I also have a headcanon right now of Chaz and Soos being BFFs.

Roland's Fairy Cronies-Ronaldo(Steven Universe), Scott(Total Drama Island) and Brett and Chett(The Lorax 2012)-These three guys take on the "Lefou" role where they kiss up to Roland and even try to help him in his quest to marry Marianne and become king so he can have an army. THese three guys even mock about Roland behind his back and are implied to be abused by him as well. Then I had to think of three guys who were willing to kiss up to Kevin. While Ronaldo hated Kevin as well as the next person, I also thought he also looked up to him and even was scared to even come face to face with him at times. Then for Scott, yes he was the big bad of Total Drama: Revenge of the Island, but he wasn't like as handsome or manipulative as Alejandro or Heather were in the other seasons so I can see him trying to idiolize a bigger person in charge. And Bret and Chett are there because they're probably the dimmest twins of the bunch and probably think of Kevin as their hero. Yeah, out of the four of them, Scott would probably the smartest one of the bunch.

The Imp-Stitch(Lilo and Stitch)-Hear me out. Not only does this little rat actually look like Stitch in a way(again only with white fur and a elgonated snout and a mouse tail) and also acts like him too. The Imp for whatever the fuck reason, spreads the love potion around like crazy, making various crazy couples fall in love. Though after some negotiation from Sunny and Pare, the Imp surrenders the potion and even joins in helping them get to Roland to atone for his actions, but that's not without him being mischieveious still. Then, that's when I remembered Stitch who also likes to make a lot of mischief that would end up causing more problems than solving them. However, he always come around in the end...and he's looking cute while doing so.

Plum Elf-Don(Total Drama: The Ridonculous Race)-Plum was probably the hardest character to pick cause he only had one line or two and he was only a minor character at best. If I had to pick out what his job was in the movie, I think he was the leader of the elves hence why he was kind of the boss who is fair, but has his own set of rules to follow. I went with Don because wunlike Chris who is a total dick, Don is a fair host and tries to make sure those are following the rules, despite being as sarcastic as he can. So, I can see him be the head of the poor class of the human society.

Angry Gus-SkekVar(The Dark Crystal)-Angry Gus was probably another minor role in the movie, but if I had a headcanon about him, I think he would be Bog King's general in command and would be in charage of guarding the Dark Forest. He also has some brute force within him too. However, despite this, he can be a bit sensitive as he was hurt when Roland called him ugly and naked and tried to cover himself with a leaf. This was a very tricky role I will have to admit. This is where SkekVar would come in where he too is the general in charge of the Skeksis and is the ambassador/general to SkekSil. I know basically they are technically enemies after the whole ordeal with SkekSil trying to become the new Skeksis emperor, personally he does tend to respect SkekSil for his cunning ways and his posistion in power as well as thanking him for saving him from Tarva. He also has some sensitivity in his feelings and doubts his question in battle and combats.I could also see him being the first SkekSis that Jamie would come across in the Dark Forest when she stumbles upon it.
