Tarvilv, or "Cosmo Goblins" are dangerous vermin only found in or around civilized areas. Their small size permits them to scamper though the sewers and skulk through the alleys of places they call home, but their boundless inner energy lends them a vitality that never wanes. Tarvilv will lurk ceaselesly for easy meals, polishing off whole streets of edible trash, grime, or any small, animals that just didn't move fast enough. A Tarvilv will react to threats with aggression and biting, which seems to infect victims with an infinite number of hypothetical illnesses which eventually resolve to any number of otherworldly ailments, thus making it utterly impossible to prevent potentially fatal outcomes. When not threatened, however, a Tarvilv is known to display amiable curiosity towards fellow residents, often mimicking their movements, but so far no real communication has been made and Tarvilv seem to have no objective other than this simply copycat game. Despite their ability to mimic, they don't seem to have long-term memory and are impossible to tame or train.

Extensive research on dead or dying specimens has proven that the Tarvilv itself is a walking prison for potential chaos, that is, the dark shell sealing in most of the unknown energy is the creature, whereas the energy itself is either a battery, a weapon, or both. For some reason this dark shell has chosen the form of a humanoid, and their habitat of choice, combined with their mimickry, leads some to believe Tarvilv are a sort of shadow race: a by product of our own existence that lives a meagre echo of our own lifestyle. If so, we should be thankful these endlessly voracious creatures limit themselves to a place where food is kept under lock and key: if they were to treat the natural world as they treat the city, there would soon be no nature left to devour. As it is, they keep the streets clean and the other vermin under control. Most infested areas simply take care to gather the children when they see a rainbow gleam and bouncing comet trails in the distance.
