so i was thinking of doing a full-on illustration for this chapter, but i was soon tragically reminded of my inability to draw horses. yes, even cartoon ones. so this here is some bona-fide practice, my friends. or should i say "bone"-a-fide? ...i'm not sorry.

phear was an interesting guy to design. i'll go more into him when i've got all three act three bosses lined up, but suffice it to say i wanted to do something a little different than the usual "only sane guy and vaguely nice granddad" figure that everyone seems to like so much. i mean, he's literally just a race announcer. that's his entire personality in the game. i also had fun drawing some canon dice and cuphead for the first time in awhile. i often forget how cool dice's canon design can look, even with an "in the middle of a character arc" face. he's changing his tune, very slowly. also, after posting ExG chapter 11 i realized that i had mistaken put fraud as the seventh circle, when in fact it is the eighth. i will cry repentance for the rest of eternity to mitigate the impact of this cardinal sin. its placement in ExG does work a tad better for the story flow, though.
