How to catch a low-level mobster who you want to rat on his leaders?
This was the question Lieutenant Octavia faced when she was tasked with the capture of Steve, one such mobster. The tricky thing was that the BCPU had no concrete evidence of crimes committed by Steve himself, so getting leverage on him would be difficult. Another thing was that he did not have a permanent residence and generally lived with his fellow mobsters, so capturing him without arousing the suspicion of his criminal colleagues would also be tricky. But, the BCPU did know Steve was enjoying the occasional nightly escapade due to his lack of a steady relationship. This gave Octavia a great idea to get two birds with one stone. With a bit of standing in the right place at the right time and her feminine charms, she could both get Steve to a private location and find a reasonably light reason to arrest and leverage him.
So, on a particular evening, Octavie dressed up in a skimpy outfit and set out to wander the streets where Steve was known to roam. And as the night went on and she restrained herself to not pepper-spray all people saying nasty things to her, she eventually ran into Steve. He looked at Octavia for a few seconds, and even without Octavia suggesting anything, he inquired how much it would be for them to have some fun. Octavia made up some numbers and said she knew a cheap motel nearby they could go to. Steve eagerly agreed and they went to get a room, and through sheer “luck”, one room was left over.

But Steve did not know the reason why Octavia chose this motel. This was because it was secretly owned by the BCPU itself, allowing agents to arrange and set up various things they might need, ranging from plastic tarps, gloves, and acid to dispose of a body, up to private massages to relieve some personal stress.

As they walked into the room, Octavia quietly locked the door behind her, as she asked Steve if he had the money. After he handed it over, his fate was officially sealed and Octavia told him she should get ready and suggested he would do the same. He eagerly nodded but misunderstood what Octivia meant by getting ready. As Octavia made her way over to the nightstand on the far side of the bed, Steve was taking off his shirt and struggling with putting it on a coat hanger. Under the nightstand was a bag holding a singular gas mask Octavia had left here earlier.

After making sure the mask was still there and Steve was distracted. She pushed a button on the inside of the nightstand to activate the gas delivery system located in the room-specific ventilation shafts. A quiet hum and hiss indicated that the system was working, and the pink anesthetic fumes that started flowing out of the vent in the room quickly confirmed it as well. Steve, first confused and then scared at this development panicked and went for the door, only to find it locked tight. As he looked over to his companion for the evening, his jaw metaphorically dropped as he saw her putting on a gas mask as if it was the most normal thing in the world. With her mask in place, Octavia was tightening the straps so she could confidently keep breathing, in contrast to Steve who kept futilely trying to open the door, but the fumes were already getting to him, weakening his grip on both the doorknob and his consciousness.

“Steve, you are under arrest for…” was all Octavia could say before Steve collapsed to the floor.
But it did not matter much to her, as when Steve would next awaken he would get a good enough explanation of what happened and what was going to happen to him, should he choose not to cooperate.
