Description MORE SPRITES! ^_^

Ok, these are the reworked TIE Fighter sprites for my game, drawn with as much accuracy as I could get. They are a little bigger than the scale says they should be, but I still think they look pretty good.

Ok, there is a certain order that I have arranged these ships in, so it might look crazy to you, but I have ordered them according to their difficulty.

TIE Fighter-Of course, this is the easiest TIE fighter to kill, it has minimum shielding and does minimum damage. Commonly found in the Imperial Remnant Forces.

TIE Bomber-Even though its second on the list, this ship is no joke. With heavy armor, it takes a great deal more to kill it than the average TIE fighter, not to mention it is equipped with Thermal Bombs and stronger lasers. Its only draw back is that it is significantly slower than all other TIE craft.

TIE Interceptor-Since the shielded TIE could no longer be produced, the TIE Interceptor was its successor. With stronger lasers, sometimes equipped with missiles, and faster speeds, this is a combination of strong weaponry, armor, and dexterity, making it, next to the TIE fighter, one of the most common ships in the IRF.

"Destroyer" Class TIE Fighter-Brought back from the first TIE Fighter game, these TIE fighters have been significantly improved. Stronger armor and much stronger lasers, along with proton torpedoes/cluster mines make it a force to be reckoned with. These are often found in packs of two, coupled with either a DEVASTATION TIE or a "Brawler".

"Shadow" Class TIE Fighter (Outlined for clarity)-These TIE Fighters have the same stats as a TIE Interceptor, but their invisibility both visibly and on radar make them significantly more difficult to kill. Fight with them with caution, for they often fly in threes.

"DEVASTATION" Class TIE Bomber-This is the second generation from the original Experimental DEVASTATION TIE from the first TIE Fighter game. More cost efficient, it was perfect for the IRF to use against the New Republic. Equipped with two Ordnance pods, the ship can be outfitted with a wider range of explosives, including missiles and mines (such as seismic mines). Two powerful laser cannons underneath help support the ship, as well as a weak shield generator. This ship is often supported by two TIE fighters.

"Brawler" Class TIE Bomber-As fast as a regular TIE, the "Brawler" Class TIE, resurrected from the original TIE Fighter game, can take out entire squadrons of New Republic ships by itself. Equipped with an impossible range of weaponry, including Ion Cannons on its wings, the "Brawler" is not a force to be taken lightly. Avoid if at all possible.

Experimental "DEV" Class TIE Bomber-Easily one of the most powerful fighters in the game, the original DEVASTATION TIE can stand up against New Republic Capital ships. Equipped with almost impenetrable armor (coupled with Ionic Shielding), two capital craft class turbo lasers, two ordnance pods allowing it to use nearly all types of explosives, two ion cannons on its wings, and its regular support of two "Destroyer" TIEs, these MUST BE AVOIDED until you can equip yourself with stronger lasers or other weaponry. They are legendary as they have taken out entire fleets with only three of them attacking. As said before, avoid at all costs.

There, I hope you like them. And of course, all these sprites were done by me on MS Paint, and I don't know why you would, but don't steal them. If you want to use them (again, don't know why) please ask.

Hi, I was hoping to request permission to use these in a project Im hoping to develop. I'm looking to develop a Star Wars Game in C++ & SFML, and these would make terrific sprites for the game. (non-commercial of course)

Very nice work

i have to say i prefer the x-wing for looks and abilities ;] but that's my preference for the ship's design, not your skill at representing it.

these are excellent sprites. i think my favourites are the classic, interceptor and shadow. mostly because i am interested in the concept of the shadow fighter in-game, and like how you've represented this. the detail and clarity of each sprite is amazing. also like the explanations you've put in, if you were planning to give the game a manual/readme/craft type briefing, modifying the information here slightly and applying it would work well.

The manual you speak of will be in the "Data" section of the main menu. That is also where you pick your desired ship, in which case you start out with three choices: Droid Starfighter, X-Wing, and A-Wing. The rest of the ships have to be unlocked within the main game, mini games, or training. But thanks, your comments are appreciated! ^_^

very nice to know. it'd be a pity to waste the information. =] it does sound like a lot of fun then. unlockable ships give you something to aim for and improve the difficulty level, and as always, you're very welcome.

There are so many variables in the game that can lead you to a new ship, such as on the "rail-shooter" stages in which the screen moves automatically, you can press on one side of the screen on certain parts of the stage to take you down secret paths, which can lead you to mini games/weapon codecs/new ships/nothing but trouble. Other things would include fighting the DEV. TIE on every stage you can to actually be able to play as one. There's so many secrets, pressing "pause" at the right times can even lead you some.

haha, nothing but trouble... i'll have to watch out for those. ;] that's really cool, although, after you mentioned things like the pause, i'm certain i'll never get them all now.

Your sprites keep looking better and better! The new TIEs sound like a real challenge, I can't wait to see the finished game. (and more sprites in the meantime, when you're not to busy with the game)

Or school...lol. But thanks. There were actually a lot of TIE designs yet to be made, so stay tuned.

Oh yeah..I forgot about school starting again. I can't wait to see the other TIEs and ships, it's always cool to see some new sprites. I'm glad to hear from you again.

Yeah, I have a rigid schedule during school, so weekends will be about the only times I can get online. And I will do my best to get more out ASAP.

I know I've been pretty slow with getting more stuff posted. lol

lol, yeah, we've both been slow then.

>This is sort of off topic, but... I remember on another comment you said you didn't like Megaman? I don't wanna bother you about it, I'm just curious, that's all.

Deus-Ex-Letum In reply to MajorPecan [2008-01-12 04:21:23 +0000 UTC]

Wow...I don't remember saying that, but no, I don't. The games are all ridiculously hard and not a single one of them are fun in my opinion. Furthermore, the idea is cliche, even for Nintendo, and I hated the main character. X was alright though...

And its no bother, I like speaking ^_^

MajorPecan In reply to Deus-Ex-Letum [2008-01-12 04:31:53 +0000 UTC]

Oh yeah, I guess I misinterpreted that a little bit.. oops.
I know what you mean, especially MM4-5 were insanly hard.
I like Megaman X a lot, I think the music is pretty good.

What was cliche about Megaman specificly? I know I must be overlooking something really obvious there, lol.

But none of those actually wear ties!

Seriously, I may have no idea about Star Wars, but I do have an idea about spriting, and I say your skills are awesome. You manage to achieve a high level of realism using only few colours!

Deus-Ex-Letum In reply to Artemendo [2008-01-12 03:05:23 +0000 UTC]

Thanks! I try to use only three shades, but as you can well see that doesn't always happen. But again, thanks!

trrerid [2008-01-05 07:21:36 +0000 UTC]

Cool! The "shadow" one seems like it would give you the most trouble actually putting it in the game. lol. I can picture the stars in it moving with it.

Deus-Ex-Letum In reply to trrerid [2008-01-12 03:04:06 +0000 UTC]

Well, picture on because that isn't happening! Actually...I could do it pretty easily, even to make them move only when the fighter itself moves.

Good amount of detail here mate, i like this. btw, its nice to know i'm not the only one pixeling tie fighters

Thanks! I am actually attempting to do all the ships in Star Wars for my up-coming game that I am working on. I have a horrific BETA version up (which was trashed) and I have screen shots not to mention other sprites up. But yeah, I loved your work, I might go back and check out the other pictures. Do you use MS Paint by any chance?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

x-tender In reply to Deus-Ex-Letum [2008-01-05 15:01:04 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, i use only ms paint for my pixel work. tried others, but the basic feel and tools in ms paint work the best for me.. you know what i mean. and feel free to browse my stuff, and if you wish to use\edit\reference something, just drop me a word and go ahead.
cheers.

Thanks! And I appreciate the offer, however I am trying to make this game entirely on my own so that I can say one day that I did it myself. But don't get me wrong, your sprites are better than mine, I would ask to use them if I weren't in this situation.

I just love all the detail you pack into these things, Deus. They all look so good, and TIE's are some of my favorite ships, so I just love these sprites. Expecially the Interceptor. That thing rocks.

Scatha-the-Worm In reply to Deus-Ex-Letum [2008-01-05 03:09:32 +0000 UTC]

Ha, cool. I think it's sorta weird that I like a ship that's basicly cannon-fodder...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Deus-Ex-Letum In reply to Scatha-the-Worm [2008-01-05 03:32:49 +0000 UTC]

Well, I mean its a cool design. And each ship on my game has something good about it. You'll notice that on my screen shot, there was a bar that said AUX Energy beside it. That is short of Auxiliary Energy, which is what you use to do the special attack each ship has. Once its empty, you have to either wait for it to recharge or pick up an energy packet. For instance, the Vader's TIE, if I ever draw it (I forgot it! >.< ) will have the Death Star Attack, which kills everything on the screen but uses your entire AUX bar. I am not sure what the A-9 will be able to do. Any ideas? XD

Scatha-the-Worm In reply to Deus-Ex-Letum [2008-01-05 04:06:50 +0000 UTC]

You forgot Vader's TIE? Tut, tut! XD

Mmmm.....perhaps a wide spray of lazer fire, that spreads out over the screen? A charged cannon shot? I'm not very good at this......

Auto-target/fire is the craft's only significant feature, at least, according to this book.

Hmm, sorta boring, huh? Wookiepedia has a pretty good entry for it, though I'm not sure how accurate it is.....

Deus-Ex-Letum In reply to Scatha-the-Worm [2008-01-05 04:25:06 +0000 UTC]

Gah, I've never had a good thing to say about Wookiepedia. Not only did they get the Death Star's dimensions wrong once, but they also got the soldier capacity of a Star Destroyer wrong too. I don't like them very much BUT if they have a cool thing on the A-9, I'll be willing to listen.

I don't know either, I mean, I want to avoid giving it something that another ship can get just by picking up an item. Let me read my blueprint book on it and I'll get back to you.
