Cozy had plenty of chances at the school and choose to go bad, Chrysalis was given the choice to become good by Starlight and she refused, Tirek had years in Tartarus to reflect on his actions and STILL stayed evil. They all had a chance to change in "Frienemies" but refused.

They had the chance to change, they just didn't because they wanted to stay evil

No, Stardust makes some excellent points.

Discord didn't. Like at all. He didn't change until Tirek took everything from him.Β
Starlight and Tempest had to be convinced to change.
Sunset needed to be shown there's a better way and offered a hand.

To expect three evil people to change on their own is quite frankly, asinine. No villain in the entire series has just realized they were wrong out of the blue and made a sudden switch to good.

Tirek and Cozy got a particularly raw deal. No pony was interested in changing them and Chrysalis and "Grogar" were actively talking them into being evil.Β

There most certainly is a difference, but just not the one you're implying.Β

Cozy was taken into the school, shown kindness, and was practically adored by everyone. Yet she still turned on them.

Chrysalis was shown how much more beneficial it was for the changelings if they took the peaceful route since they were no longer endlessly hungry. Yet she wanted to go back to the old ways.

Tirek's brother shared his experiences with the ponies with his brother and tried to get him to change his mind about draining them, and he said no. Even if he was thrown in Tartarus, he had only himself to blame for that. Why should they have given him a chance if he was more than willing to stick to his all the evil ways and seek vengeance just because they defended their home?

They were given reasons to change their way, they just didn't want to.

Cozy pretty much proved she was irredeemable after nearly robbing all of Equestria of their livelihood just for more power. The fact that she was faking it and pretending to be nice just makes it worse since she took advantage of them even though they were nothing but kind to her.

Discord showing remorse over loosing his friendship with Fluttershy was in fact showing that he was actually willing to put some effort into reforming. As well as having some empathy.

Cozy and Tirek had their chances, but they chose to remain evil just because they didn't want to change.

You seem to be missing the point. Just because Reformation is an option doesn't automatically mean that everyone's going to take it, and these three are prime examples of that, they were just too stuck in their own ways to even want to change even when given the chance.

Now I realize, you said everything I just said, well done and it is good to know that there are people who do have things clear.
This is not like Steven Universe, where the protagonist forgives everyone, lol

Ohhhh, I get it. Twilight's gone crazy, the statue is broken, and she needs glue to fix it!

In all seriousness though, either Twilight's hallucinating or did somepony really hate Cozy Glow so much that they bash her head in. Unpetrifying her in this state would spell death. I blame Yona!

batmanwins In reply to StarBoltMLP [2020-03-10 13:51:06 +0000 UTC]

No he wasn't. He never would have changed had he not spent a lot of time with someone willing to be his friend and been betrayed by Tirek afterward.

He was just as bad as Tirek, and worse than Cozy before that.

The only villain you can argue is undeniably irredeemable is Chrysalis because Starlight at least did try to save her once and gave her good reasons to change.

Before or after he resurrected Sombra, set Cozy and Tirek free, and gathered them plus Chrysalis together to attack Twilight?

Heck, before or after his plunderseeds started killing the tree of harmony and imprisoned Celestia and Luna, and he did nothing to stop or even warn anyone about it?

Before or after he betrayed Equestria and helped Tirek drain everyone's magic?

And that was the guy they let decide Cozy, Tirek, and Chrysalis's fate?Β

Wixi2000 In reply to StarBoltMLP [2020-03-10 06:14:01 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, that's true. Freaking, Chrysalis was given a chance to join her reformed hive, and she smacked the helping hoof away.

Cozy was going to the FREAKING SCHOOL OF FRIENDSHIP, and still got it wrong, but was already SO hellbent on her plan, that she refused anything else.

Tirek drained the magic of every pony in Equestria, and I don't think that could be redeemable.

Discord just caused some chaos. Yes, he brainwashed everyone, but at the same time, he was just having fun the only way he knew how. And besides, what is more useful, a small, charismatic pegasus, or a beast capable of warping the universe at a snap of its claws?

Wixi2000 In reply to asdtroi8895 [2020-03-10 14:42:23 +0000 UTC]

Starlight was broken, Discord was lonely, and Cozy basically wanted the same as Chrysalis, Tirek and Sombra: domination over Equestria.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

batmanwins In reply to Wixi2000 [2020-03-10 19:49:33 +0000 UTC]

Starlight was an unbelievably petty and Discord was an unempathetic and remorseless tyrant who made the world miserable for his own amusement for centuries.

I love Sunset, but she tried to straight-up MURDER Twilight.

They were all very bad people before they were reformed, especially Discord and loneliness isn't an excuse, especially when Tirek, Chrysalis, and Cozy are all lonely too.

It's a complete double standard the show and people who just can't admit the writing when handling them was bad propagate.

AlphamonOuryuuken In reply to batmanwins [2020-03-14 15:22:32 +0000 UTC]

Or maybe certain fans just can't get over the fact that these 3 proved to be Beyond Redemption. Ever think about that?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

batmanwins In reply to AlphamonOuryuuken [2020-03-14 17:55:57 +0000 UTC]

Except they didn't prove they were beyond redemption. The exact opposite happened. Frenemies showed they were entirely capable of change, but no one's ever shown them how. Chrysalis is the only one they've even tried to reform and it was nothing compared to what Discord got.

That's just bad writing.

Joker, Frieza, Palpatine, those are irredeemable villains. Characters purposefully written to be beyond help and incapable of good or anything positive.

Cozy, Tirek, and Chrysalis are just poorly handled ones. Irredeemable in the sense that we barley tried or didn't try at all.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

AlphamonOuryuuken In reply to batmanwins [2020-03-14 23:55:17 +0000 UTC]

Frenemies showed that even if an attempt was made, they'd still just flat-out reject it. That's not bad writing, that's just showing that some individuals don't want to change there's a difference.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

batmanwins In reply to Wixi2000 [2020-03-10 20:31:57 +0000 UTC]

Well, not sure what you were expecting saying that these villains are irredeemable on a comic that clearly aims to at least give them a chance.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Wixi2000 In reply to batmanwins [2020-03-10 20:36:48 +0000 UTC]

I think it's more that she's having a nightmare, the experience of petrifying Cozy, Chrysalis and Tirek traumatizing her a bit. I mean, don't good people regret killing, even if the person they took out was causing a lot of suffering?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

batmanwins In reply to Wixi2000 [2020-03-10 21:05:27 +0000 UTC]

The comic is called Fix.
Combined with Twilight having a nightmare where they haunt her over her failing them.
I think it's fairly safe to say Twilight feels guilty about not saving them, as the Princess of Friendship, and she's going to try to rectify that.Β

The basis of this comic being that a lot of fans have problems with the way they handled the villains in the finale, especially since Frenemies showed they were just as susceptible to the magic of friendship as anyone else, and Cozy and Tirek never got a second chance or someone offering to reform them like Discord got.Β

Which yeah, is an actual problem with the show's writing. An irredeemable villain is someone you can't reach, no matter how hard you try. Not someone you never try to reach.
