Few days passed since Vlad became leader and took his father’s place,and yet again Nigel came back home drunk.Vlad was lying on his favorite place by the window when his stomach started rumbling loudly.
-Hungry already?Why don’t you find something to eat for your starving family,oh great leader?-Nigel said with a big grin on his muzzle.After that little meerkat jumped off the window-sill and slowly went to the hole in wall.
-Are you out of your mind?!-Vlad’s mom hit drunken meerkat’s empty head.-He doesn’t know how to hunt yet and..And just look at the weather.Heavy rain!
-Shup up woman..If he expected his daddy to keep hunting for food-then he’s a fool!
As two grownups kept yelling at each other,Vlad already went for a hunt and had no idea what to do.He realized though that he could easily become food for someone else.But he couldn’t let that happen,not before he proves that he didn’t become leader just for nothing.It was hard for him to sense something since the rain erased all the tracks and smells.But then his sight caught a movement near the trash cans.Vlad waited patiently for it to come out,and so it did.It was a black street rat with a size of an adult meerkat.Young leader didn’t want to waste his time and attacked the rat while it was looking on the other side.For the first time he failed.Rat was faster and stronger and soon both of them changed roles.Vlad was running away through unknown streets,unseen buildings and lanes.But suddenly he stopped and turned back to face the rat.He jumped over it and stared at it’s back.The vermin was confused and didn’t get what just happened.Vlad used this moment and bit it’s bare tail.After that he started to hit the rat by the ground in order to smash it’s head and kill it.
-Looks like that little bastard isn’t coming back.Oh that poor thing..-Said Nigel with sarcasm and laid on Vlad’s favorite place.When he looked through the window his mouth opened wide and meerkat became sober from surprise.Vlad was heading to his home pulling rat by the tail with him.He saw astonished Nigel and smiled.
-Happy to see me,daddy?
