I must not be quite awake this morning; my first reaction to the title was "How do you flay a crypt, and why would you want to?"

These are Crypt Flayers, essentially Ghouls who have been permitted by the Ghoul King to eat the flesh of a Terrorgeist and have morphed into a new monstrosity.

A Terrorgheist, assuming the old lore hasn't been completely changed. Essentially, it's a bat the size of a dragon, brought back to life by either a powerful necromancer or a vampire, in this case the vampire.
