Captain Winslow stood in front of the large tarpaulin covered object and smiled as the expectant press babbled question after question before holding his hands up for quiet.

"Ladies and Gentlemen, thanks for coming out on this cold November night at such short notice. I have a short statement to make and then we will get to the demonstration."

Another chorus of questions came hurtling at the veteran policeman and he waited patiently until the noise died down.

"I will answer your questions after the demonstration. But yes, this does involve White Owl." Winslow turned and nodded at the uniformed officer who stood by the mysterious object. The young police woman took a tight hold of the tarpaulin and licked her lips in anticipation as she pulled the tarp away to reveal a large searchlight.

"For years now, White Owl has watched over this city and protected its citizens from the worst that the criminal world has to offer. In that time, criminals have grown ever more sophisticated. Pagers, encrypted phones, there is nothing they can't get into. We need a way to contact White Owl, a fool proof method that can't be hacked. And we also wanted to show her our appreciation... Andrews, throw the switch!"

The young police woman pulled the switch, a powerful beam of light went speeding skyward and the assembled press audience gave a collective gasp of wonder, for there, in the sky, was...
