Description An AU fanfiction that makes me cry. I hate it, and at the same time something touch my soul. It is full of undisguised pain, tragic evil love and the injustice of life.
The last lines of the epilogue.

"Trees die standing"

Peter opens the car door and quickly gets out. He walks quickly, as if afraid to change his mind, runs up the stairs. Beck is no one else to him, they are divorced, and Tony knows this for sure, the divorce was unilaterally finalized two months ago. Why, after everything that happened, Peter wants to see this villain, Stark doesn't know. And he doesn't want to ask. As much as he hated to admit it, there was still a connection between the ex-husbands. Or Peter has a very soft and kind heart. It remembers how it was once left alone, locked in an institution.
Peter passes all the required posts before being allowed into the ward, which is occupied by Beck. Tony's connections and money helped, otherwise Parker would hardly have been allowed to see, consider, a stranger.
Quentin sits in a chair, facing the window. “Hi, Quen,” Peter addresses him, although the nurse from the checkpoint warned him that Quentin rarely reacts to external stimuli. Peter can hardly tell Tony how hard it is for him to come here. And even now, when he and Quentin are in the same room, it's difficult for him to take the last step. Peter himself doesn't know why he needs all this. But he feels unfinished. Something is preventing him from breathing freely. No, he doesn't expect Quentin to look at him now and say, "You're still mine." And partly even will be right. Peter can say as much as he wants: "I did it, I belong only to myself." But it won't be completely true. Quentin, his faint shadow, is still behind him. Still manages to influence his decisions. Because of him, Peter can't let go of himself and allow himself to be with Tony. And that's the most embarrassing thing about it.
Peter walks around the chair, staring intently at his ex-husband's face. Quentin looks straight ahead, Peter sees no reason in his eyes. They are glass, like a doll. His hands are folded on his knees. Peter wants to touch his hand, but he doesn't dare.
This is Quentin and not Quentin at the same time. Peter doesn't know if what he sees makes him feel better or not. Will he visit him? So far there is no answer.
There is a slight smile on Quentin's lips. Looks out of place and weird. As if somewhere, wherever Quentin's mind was, he was free. And for some reason, Peter is relieved.
Little Quentin finally found his room with unprecedented and wonderful visions.
