There is so much tension here
Quentin Beck (Mysterio) dragged Peter Parker (Spider-Man) into the limbо, but Parker had a pure soul and a strong spirit, so Quentin could not achieve his goal. He wanted to "play" with him forever, and in the form of a monster he licked Peter, teasing that he wanted to eat him. But this is impossible, because they are in the astral world, and Mysterio was just playing with Peter in his sadist-perverse manner. It's terrible, but it's canon in the comics, and I see Quentin's tragedy in it. His unhappy soul longed for love and recognition, but society with wrong values turned him into a frightening villain.
