Often, the loud outspoken few ruin things for the many. Show people that they are the minority, ST.

Not all Christians are small minded asses.
Not all atheists are Bible-burning Satanists.
Not all Muslims blow up stuff.
Not all blacks listen to rap and eat fried chicken all day everyday.
Not all asians play piano and get 100% in every single exam they take, without studying.
Not all Irish people get drunk everyday.

THANK YOU.
I am so unbelievably sick of hearing about "how Catholics are" from people who have never gone deeply into the religion.
At its core, Christianity is about the love of others. People who misuse Christianity for war, hate, oppression and destruction are not Christians. If you've held up a sign that begins "God hates..." you are NOT a Christian. Those people are embarrassing and awful.
Saying those people are Christians is like saying Sweeney Todd is an ethical barber.

Glad you said it. I can totally understand why people would think that, but it's certainly not the case for all Christians.

Every religion/race has their small-minded asses. It just sucks, because then people assume because they've met a few of them, they think everyone in that religion is. :/ There are people who aren't. They are just a bit more difficult to find.

I think there are asses in every religion or even group of people, and those are the only people that are seen. I like meeting people who aren't asses. -hugs-

Thank you for saying it! The best way to show people the truth is to act it. Be a good, loving human being who doesn't shove God down people's throats or tell them they're going to hell. It will change their mind about you, if not all Christians. One step at a time, right?

I know. It must really suck because it's the idiot ones who get the most attention and say that they should be listened to because the majority of the population (in this country) are christian. Truth is, a lot of other Christians don't hold the same views as them.

I have a friend online that sometimes, I wish I could fall in love with and live with for the rest of my life, because she is... well, I wish I could desribe her - she's sweet and kind and funny and pure, and just wholly amazing. Unfortunately, sexuality prevents us there
But, she's a hugely devout Christian, and she teaches me about it sometimes, when I ask, but doesn't bother mentioning it otherwise.
Some of the best people I know ar eChristian, is what I'm trying to say.

I had to move in freshers last Saturday, and the family that was the nicest and most grateful for what we did was the christian family. People didn't seem to appreciate what we did, carting heavy boxes up the stairs, but they did.
But like someone else said, bear in mind that not all Atheists are hateful, argumentative people who will slander anyone's religion. I think it's insulting to do that, but when people know my views and try and persuade me to convert anyway, that's when I get annoyed.

This is totally true. One of best friends is devout Christian and she's the nicest person I've meet. Plus every time I go over to her's, her parents cook and are so lovely. I always joke that I wish they could adopt me

And not all Atheists hate Christians and want to burn churches. or worship Satan. or have no idea whats in the bible.
And I do know all Christians aren't hateful. In fact, I know most aren't. Most people are content to live their lives as harmlessly and quietly as possible. Its those small few that give everyone a bad name, no matter what religion. All of us are judged by our religions and judge others based on it. Its how far you take them that count.
So if someone tells you that christians are small-minded, tell them its them that are small-minded for placing you in a box. Be proud of who you are and what you believe. If someone has a problem with it, what do you care? You aren't in their head...so why's it matter what they think?

I see that, ST. One of my best friends is Catholic, and so is her entire family, and they all openly welcome me into their home even though I'm Pagan. Her mother is wary as an older Christian woman who has had bad experiences in the past with people of my spiritual path, but she never judges me on it and knows that I'm a good person that isn't defined by my religious beliefs. I'm with you on wishing everyone could see you as a person before seeing you as your religion in the same way I wish people could see everyone as the people they are instead of the God/s/Goddess/es they may follow.

I've noticed that most people consistently remember the bad things that happen more often than the good. That could have something to do with the way most people think "all" Christians are "asses". One bad experience with one person can sometimes influence people... I don't blame them for thinking that way, because it's human nature.
I have a lot of friends from all different religions and I don't judge people based on which religion they are. It's a personal choice and has NOTHING to do with the way someone really is, as a person.

Amen, sister! ... or Brother.... I dunno.
But speaking purely objectively (I don't have a religion per se, but I don't see religion as a bad thing) I agree. I actually have a few friends who drag me to church every so often just because it's a fun, relaxed atmosphere. They don't care that I'm bisexual, or that I don't believe in their God, and they don't try to change that about me. They're real people who enjoy me for me. And all I have to do in return is keep a leash on my potty mouth.

True not all Christians are assholes, in fact most aren't. Unfortunately bad encounters such as those with assholes of any type tend to leave a strong impressions, and seem to be the vocal type.
Good on you for speaking up against the opinion that is being formed based on experiences with few.

I know you're not like that I'm a Pagan, and one of my best friends is Catholic, and she's one of the purest and nicest of souls I've ever met. It saddens me so much to see people of different religions group all of you together with the extremists in the same way they say people do to them.
